Academia Buenos Aires was founded in 2004 and has built its reputation on academic quality, full cultural immersion and highly professional service. It is a medium-sized school with around 60 students at any given moment, run by its owners, offering classes in a friendly and personalized atmosphere and is a top rated Spanish school in Latin America. The Spanish school offers all kinds of Spanish courses for all levels, starting every Monday, year-round, based on the European Reference Framework.

School facilities description

Academia Buenos Aires Spanish school is located on Plaza de Mayo, the center of Buenos Aires, in a recently restored historic building with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The top two floors of this building offer 11 light spacious classrooms, a rooftop terrace, 8 PCs for student use, wifi, a movie room, social areas, a book and DVD library, etc.

Academia offers a wide range of courses to both individual travellers and groups.

Our intensive group courses on at least 9 levels (A1-C2 equivalence), 20 hours per week, 6 students maximum, is our main course product.

Individual courses offer you the possibility to choose topics and have classes at your very personal speed.

You can combine courses with the other two Academia schools under the same management, with the same study materials and the same philosophy. We have schools in Bariloche, Argentina and Montevideo, Uruguay.

We will organize a volunteering project for you, free of charge, if you commit to 4 weeks on the project.

Our other courses include: Medical Spanish, Spanish for Spanish teachers, Spanish and Tango, Business Spanish, Exam preparation courses and distance learning through skype.

Certificates & exams preparation

Academia offers university credit through local universities for all spanish courses. We also prepare for the DELE and CELU exams. All students receive participation certificates.

Student nationalities, average age & average number per class

There are a maximum of 6 students in our group classes (average 3). Over the past year, we received students from 43 countries, with a majority coming from North America, Northern and Central Europe, Brasil and Australia. The average age is 29.

Activities

Students are offered cultural immersion experiences in and outside of the classroom through free extracurricular activities at least twice a week (guided visits to parts of town, concerts, tango, etc) , a weekly movie showing followed by a debate and free afternoon academic workshops (conversation, phonetics, etc).

Fantastic Teaching, Very Well Organised

I studied intensive Spanish courses at Academia Buenos Aires for around a month and also took the opportunity to volunteer at a community centre teaching English as part of my trip. The school was very well organized and the teaching was excellent, the class sizes were small, there were 4 people in my class and the teachers were very knowledgeable about Argentina and its history so it made for quite a learning experience in that respect as well. The classes were intense enough to mean that I advanced quite rapidly in just a month but still gave me time to do lots of exploring in the city. I also stayed in a beautiful apartment with other students which the school helped me arrange, that was a great experience and a fantastic way to share the experience of the city. The volunteering was also well organized, the first day someone from the school came with me to make sure everything went smoothly and to introduce me to people at the organization, after that they checked in regularly to see how things were going. That really tested my Spanish since the people in the community centre didn't speak much English and again it gave me chance to see another part of life in the city. All in all I had a great time in Buenos Aires, it's a wonderful city and Academia Buenos Aires is a great school, I would definitely recommend to others looking to study Spanish.

excellent classes and atmosphere

My experience at Academia Buenos Aires was wonderful. I arrived to Buenos Aires with a basic Spanish, but my objective was to have a strong intermediate level by the end of my stay. I chose Academia from among many schools because having checked their website I felt that I would find professional services. I must say my expectations were exceeded, from day 1.
I started with an intensive course in a group of 4 and in 3 weeks we covered the most important grammar topics. Then, I took private classes for 2 months. This let me focus on my weaknesses and start the preparation for the DELE exam. The teachers were very skilled, and they made sure that we all spoke Spanish in class. They were open to share their thoughts and discuss daily events. I especially enjoyed the explanations of Paula, who actually dedicated her spare time to correct my extra exercises! (They use their own books and there are many exercises that you can do on your own.)
They have great extra programs from language workshops to walking tours. These tours were my favorites: with an extremely knowledgeable girl we discovered certain districts and these tours helped us understand the culture. I often went to the weekly movie nights with wine tasting too.
The whole experience was perfect for me. I was sad to leave and I would recommend this school to everyone without hesitation for its excellent teachers and staff!
