At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate which formally states the length of your course and the level to which you have studied. In addition, your teacher will write an assessment describing your language competencies, both written and oral, stating the level that you have reached. Also, you will receive personal suggestions to build on what you have learned at CLE.
If you wish to test your knowledge of French by taking a diploma delivered by the Ministry of Education of France and recognised throughout the world, we would recommend the DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Lanque Française) or the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Lanque Française).
During your stay at CLE, you can involve yourself with one of these exams (DELF or DALF) and if the dates of the exams are not convenient, you can take the exams back in your own country. There are 900 exam centers spread through 154 countries.
For more information about the duration of the exams, the costs and the dates, read this page.

The ideal way to discover France and its people is to live with a local family and to share its way of life.
We know that a host family plays a very important role in making your stay a success. Consequently, we very carefully select families to ensure that you have a warm welcome. We regularly visit our host families and it is their warm and caring nature which helps to contribute to the good reputation of CLE. Acommodation prices
If you prefer to be independent, we can book a studio apartment or an apartment in a residential block for you. These studios or apartments are situated in the center of Tours. They are comfortable and fully-equipped with kitchen equipment and television . All of them have Internet access. Each residence has a washing machine and dryer available to you.
For a stay of 2 weeks or more, it is better to stay in this type of accommodation rather than a hotel because you can prepare your own meals.
Disabled students are welcome in the school.
However, accommodation with a host family cannot be garanteed, as it depends on your disabilbity.
Your host family (if you choose this type of accommodation) will meet you at Tours station/airport at no extra cost.
If you land at Charles de Gaulle airport near Paris, take a TGV (fast train) from the airport to Tours. If you are in Paris, take a TGV from Montparnasse railway station.
If you stay in a hotel or apartment, take a taxi from Tours airport or railway station.
