Online learning

Fantastic way to brush up my French over the summer break. Having previously been fortunate enough to experience CLE first hand in Tours as a student (which I would also thoroughly recommend), I was paired back up with my previous tutor who could target my numerous grammar weaknesses. Interesting homework activities and great feed back. I'll be heading back to work more confident with my French, having learnt (and relearnt) grammar lessons and hopefully having corrected my most frequent errors! Thank you Isabelle, my tutor Anne-Sophie and the whole CLE team.

Top notch teachers in a home like setting

As soon as you enter CLE you feel at home. The building itself is old and charming. Isabelle who owns CLE makes you feel like family and offers you an array of resources (books, DVDs, listening lab). The class sizes are small. The teachers are top notch. I was preparing for the DELF B2 and had the good fortune of working with a teacher who grades that exam so her instruction was directly relevant. And the other students come from all over the world and generally have a business reason to learn French. I highly recommend CLE!

If as an adult, you have wanted to learn or improve your French, and have never heard of CLE, now you have, and you are in for a real treat! One of the very best experiences of my life (and this is not hyperbole!) is the time I spent taking French lessons at this wonderful school in Tours, France. This is an accredited, high quality institution with excellent teachers, where students learn French in an effective and fun environment. Also, it is a small institution, which creates a real feeling of community. CLE first evaluated my level of French knowledge, and then offered me some course options at my level. The warm and friendly staff always made me feel welcome, and CLE came to feel like a kind of "second home" to me. In addition, the school, in this beautiful area of France, offers excursions that students can sign up for if they wish, and during which they can get to know each other and the staff socially. I cannot recommend this school highly enough!

Immersive French Language Experience

A lovely school! If you're looking for an immersive French experience to improve your French language skills, look no further! I was only able to spend a week (and wish I had the time to stay longer), but I had a fantastic experience. Even after such a short period of time, I felt much more confident speaking French and noticed that my oral comprehension also greatly improved. Would love to come back in the future! The school also arranges for students to stay with a host family if they wish. I got on really well with my host mother, and we had lovely chats each evening about our lives and current events in France and the world over a home cooked dinner (a great way to sample French culinary culture) . I highly recommend CLE anyone looking for a quality and cost effective method to improve their French language abilities!

Absolute Empfehlung

Ich war bereits fünf Mal in Tours an der Sprachschule CLE zum Französischlernen und kann es absolut empfehlen. Die Klassen sind klein und man trifft dort auf Studenten aus den verschiedensten Ländern aller Altersgruppen. Besonders für Lernenden wie mich, die Französisch beruflich benötigen, ist es sehr angenehm, Gleichgesinnte zu treffen. Die Lehrer sind hochmotiviert. Gut gefällt mir auch, dass man immer etwas über Land und Leute und Kultur lernt, u.a. in den Ateliers am Nachmittag. Die engagierte Direktorin Isabelle bietet auch viele Aktivitäten an, von Weinproben über Ausflüge oder einfach gemeinsam Essen gehen. Und was wirklich auch ohne Zwang klappt: man spricht wirklich die gesamte Zeit über Französisch. Und neben dem Spassfaktor muss es auch etwas bringen: ich habe mittlerweile die DALF C1 Prüfung bestanden, daher: 5 Sterne. Und gerne wieder.

5-Sterne Sprachschule

Ich verbrachte 3 Wochen in der Sprachschule CLE und kann sie jedem wärmstens empfehlen. Ich wurde am 1. Tag herzlichst begrüsst und fühlte mich vom ersten Moment an sehr willkommen. Die kleinen Klassen und die guten Lehrer/innen haben mir geholen, dass ich in kurzer Zeit grosse Fortschirtte gemacht habe. Ich komme sehr gerne wieder!!!

The best of the best!

I have just returned from a fantastic week of private lessons at CLE. This was my third visit to CLE and I have loved it every time. Isabelle and her team of talented teachers offer an experience which combines exceptional teaching with cultural and other activities which enable students to meet, practise their emerging French language skills and immerse themselves in the French way of life. I was fortunate to stay this time with a local host arranged by CLE and, as I have observed with other students at CLE, Isabelle did an excellent job in matching me with a welcoming host who made me feel at home in Tours. The added dimension of speaking French outside of school hours provided a real boost to my French learning. I have always been very impressed by the standard of teaching at CLE and my teacher this week, David, was truly exceptional. As I require French for my job in Australia, there were some specific things I needed to work on. David tailored my lessons to address all these requirements, while making sure that the lessons were interesting, fun and always delivered with both professionalism and humour. I cannot recommend him, and CLE in general, highly enough! I have, in the past, visited two other highly rated French "immersion" language schools in France. As the fact that I keep returning to CLE shows, I think what CLE offers is by far the best of them all. Thank you as always to everyone at CLE and I hope to return soon!

Un parfait séjour français en France

Deux semaines à Tours en Decembre à l'école CLE était vraiment une expériance exeptionelle. L'école est très sympa, la directrice est extremement efforcée pour tous les étudiantes est organise des excursions interessantes est amusantes. Et les profs aussi sont beaucoup beaucoup engagés. My stay with CLÉ

As a novice, I recently spent two weeks at CLÉ in order to improve my French. I had been studying at evening classes at home but felt two weeks tuition in french, in France would help improve my language skills. It would also give me a chance to explore a part of France not previously visited. After only a couple of weeks I found my levels of comprehension had greatly improved thanks to the hard work of staff. Staying with a host family also gave me some additional time to practice my spoken french (the hardest part for me). I enjoyed the various excursions organised by the school. These trips gave additional time to socialise with students outside of the classroom. Tours is a lively place with things to see and do. All in all, a very worth while experience that has given me the imputas to continue improving my french. A big thank you to all at CLÉ.

Super Französischkurs

Ich habe 3 Wochen im August an dieser Sprachschule verbracht und mein Fazit ist klar: das ist wohl die beste Schule, die ich je besucht habe. Das Umfeld ist sehr familiär und man wird jeden Tag gefordert und vor allem gefördert. Ich habe es nicht für möglich gehalten in 3 Wochen so viele Fortschritte zu machen. Ich empfehle jedem diese Schule und der Aufenthalt war top.

An excellent French school for group or private lessons

I recently completed 2 weeks of French education at CLE. I opted for a private instructor to focus on my individual language learning goals. While more expensive than the group classes, it suited my needs. I wanted to devote half of my time to the study of French phonetics at a deeper level. In advance of my arrival, I communicated with the school in some detail regarding how I wished the curriculum to be structured (e.g., how much time I wanted to spend on phonetics vs. grammar vs. cultural studies). The school staff and my teacher took great care to ensure that my educational objectives were met. I got exactly what I asked for and the quality of the instruction exceeded my expectations! I heard the same sort of feedback from students who were enrolled in the group classes. I would highly recommend CLE for anyone who is looking to level up their French.

The course far exceeded my expectations!

I recently attended a two-week course at the CLE in Tours and just loved my time there. There was a test on the first morning that ensured that I was placed with other students who were of a similar level. All the teachers were full of vitality and had obviously done a lot of preparation for each class. There was a mixture of written and oral work and we covered lots of different topics during the week. Although the students were all motivated to learn, you could choose whether to do the homework or not. Most importantly, the lessons were fun and we had lots of laughs in all of our lessons. Morning coffee was taken as a group which helped people to get to know each other and many of the students met up and had lunch together. In addition to the afternoon lessons and visits, there were groups that met for dinner and other social or sightseeing activities. The school had a wonderful atmosphere. Almost everyone was really enthusiastic to improve their skills and even on these social gatherings, they continued to speak in French. Being 67, I assumed that I would be the oldest person on the course, but to my surprise, there were people of all ages - all enjoying their time at the CLE. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their written or spoken French. I can understand why people return year after year!

CLE is the key to learning French

I have just returned to New Zealand after 2 wonderful weeks at CLE in Tours and I will definitely go back. The teachers were excellent and the lessons were varied with fresh new material and a lot of opportunities for speaking and getting to know the other students with games etc. The school itself is very attractive and in a delightful part of town and my homestay was superb. I liked the way the classes could offer in -detail grammar to students who needed written French for their job and also give plenty of oral practice to people like me for my work as a tour guide. There were some nice social activities suggested as well to meet other students and it was great to mix so many interesting people from all over the world.

Excelente experiencia del verano

Durante el mes en el que estuve aprendí muchísimo, no sólo del idioma, si no que también de la cultura francesa y de la cultura de los demás estudiantes de alrededor del mundo. La diferencia entre cuando llegué y me fui fue muy notable, logré hacer muchos progresos en francés. Profesores atentos, instalaciones acogedoras, clases dinámicas, actividades para todos los gustos y una hermosa ciudad. Si se presenta la oportunidad, me encantaría regresar.

CLE 2018

As an American student learning French in a university setting, I knew that the opportunity to travel and study in an immersion srtting would be indispensable. I decided to enroll for 2 weeks at the CLE in Tours, France— and it was the best choice I could have made! From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming and encouraging. In and out of class, the professors were dynamic, kind, and always willing to answer questions related to schoolwork or simply about fun things to do in and around Tours. In my case, it took the first week to find the appropriate level, so I would recommend to prospective students to consider a minimum of 3 weeks—though I think one month would be ideal. In class, we worked on a variety of grammar points and discussed a wide variety of usedul themes, which boosted my conversational ability in French. The emphasis on listening comprehension was greatly appreciated, and I recommend signing up for private lessons. In my provate lesson, I got a personalized plan of study, and felt that this was where I made the greatest progress. My time passed so quickly, and at the end of my 2 week stay, I wished so badly that I could have stayed another week or two! I’m looking forward to returning next summer, and this time for a bit longer.

My 3 Months at Ecole CLE

I had been learning French in Perth, Australia for about 2 years but I needed a boost to my learning and hence decided the best way forward would be to undertake study in France. I carried out a review of 6 other schools and decided on Ecole CLE who have a very good / well set out website. I was not disappointed by my decision. The school provides an excellent learning environment, the teachers are very proficient and competent, the teaching staff and management make learning French a good experience there is an element of fun. The school adheres to the DELF curriculum, hence those seeking to sit the DELF exams are well prepared to take the exams. Additional to the classroom learning there are workshops on Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoons that help to reinforce classroom learning. The school also organised social events and excursions on the weekend hence there was always something to do or places to see and visit. I meet a large number of people from all over the world of different age groups and professional backgrounds. The class size was never more than 7 students. I stayed with a host family that was organised by the school, the family I stayed with were very good and helped reinforce my learning. I would have no hesitation in recommend Ecole CLE to others. The only caution to others is when deciding on your host family, I would make sure the host family is located within walking distance of the school; taking public transport does add to the length of the day.

Wonderful learning experience!

I knew I wanted to pick a French language school located either in the Tours or Angers area of France because the people there speak the most beautiful French. So after much research, I decided on CLÉ. CLÉ is centrally located in Tours, It has a much smaller teacher to student ratio than some of the others school and the class size was perfect...less than 7 students. I found the quality of the teachers on staff to be excellent. They were extremely helpful, detail oriented, easy to talk to and very nice. Each of them brought a slightly different approach to the subject matter. Some focused more on comprehension and grammar some used a more creative approach by leading us in discussions on multiple subjects such as the current affairs in France and the world, art, history and movies! I found myself always looking forward to learning on their class each day. The CLÉ curriculum and teaching methods focused on making sure you can understand the normal speed of French conversation. My comprehension was much improved after 4 weeks of attending courses here! I enjoyed taken part in weekend excursions! The school situated in the very heart of Tours and restaurants and cafes are conveniently located. This history pack full town won't disappoint you. Neither will as this small yet high quality school! I highly recommend this school if you are serious about learning French!

The best school yet

I have been to four French immersion schools in the past four years. This is the best one yet, hands down. The small class size (max 7 versus 12 or 14 in other schools), the uniformly excellent professors, the welcoming environment, the variety of the workshops in the afternoon, the variety of teaching methods used by the teachers, the optional private lessons, and the wonderful host family I stayed with all made my 4 weeks at CLE a really memorable stay. Aussi, bien sûr, j’ai fait beaucoup de progrès en français!

CLE: A five star experience!

I have recently returned from a week-long course at CLE in Tours, which I undertook to improve my fluency in French which I require for my work. I have previously undertaken intensive language courses in two other schools in France, both of which were enjoyable and worthwhile, however I feel that CLE is in a class of its own and I cannot speak highly enough of this School. I was lucky to have the amazing Marlène and Louise as my teachers, with whom I undertook 20 hours of private language lessons in the week. The teaching at CLE was of the highest standard, with lessons specially tailored to my needs and expectations. It was clear that the School had thoroughly considered my personal needs and requests (provided to them in a questionnaire which the School emailed to me before my arrival), in that they tailored all of the listening, speaking, comprehension and grammatical exercises to my particular needs. The teachers had evidently spent many hours preparing my materials and lesson content prior to my arrival. Whilst I was lucky enough to rent the gorgeous apartment located on the top level of the school, all of the other students were lodging with local families. They all spoke about how worthwhile and enjoyable they found the time with their host families, and it's clear that Isabelle, the wonderful Directrice of the school, goes to great lengths to match students with host families and to ensure that these placements work well. She is very "hands-on" in her running of the school, and is constantly reviewing each student's progress, satisfaction and needs. Thanks to its small size, the school has a welcoming and professional atmosphere, with very small classes and dedicated teachers. During the week that I stayed at the School, there were three social get-togethers planned by the school, at which it was fun to meet the other students and teachers in a relaxed environment and share in some French culture and cuisine. The school is in a brilliant location, right next to the old town and near bars, cafes and restaurants. Isabelle is to be congratulated on the fantastic job she has done in establishing and building the reputation of this well run and successful language school. I liked it so much that I am returning in a year's time!

Französisch lernen = CLE

Für einen Sprachaufenthalt in Frankreich ist CLE in Tours erste Wahl. Ich habe 5 Wochen Unterricht in dieser Schule genossen. Die Lehrer und Lehrerinnen waren immer top vorbereitet und wussten stets eine Antwort auf unsere Fragen und Anregungen. Die Klassen sind mit maximal 7 Schülern angenehm klein, so dass wirklich viel Zeit und Möglichkeit zum Sprechen und Diskutieren besteht. Die Atmosphäre in der sehr schön mitten in der Altstadt von Tours gelegenen Schule ist freundlich, sehr persönlich, humorvoll und gemütlich. Schulzimmer und Einrichtungen sind top. Ein grosses Plus sind die vielfältigen Ateliers an Nachmittagen, die neben der Sprache auch viel Einblick in die französische Kultur und vieles mehr ermöglichen. Und nicht zuletzt organisiert das Team der CLE äusserst spannende, vielfältige und sehr sympathische Aktivitäten in der Freizeit. Dabei wird selbstverständlich französisch gesprochen.

A great experience learning French in France

I have just returned from my second two-week course to learn French at CLE in Tours. Like the first one it was a marvellous and memorable experience. The classes were small, the teachers were dedicated and professional, and my fellow students were friendly people from many parts f the world. Some of the elective options were memorable such as the art gallery tour and a cooking class. Our madeleines and financiers were cordon bleu. I chose the option of staying with a family and was very happy in this situation. It meant speaking French at all times during my stay and gave me the opportunity to make new friends both with my hosts and with other students staying at the same location.

Excellent experience at CLE!

CLE provides a wonderful language immersion experience in Tours, a beautiful medieval, but sophisticated town in the Loire valley. Everything about this language school is personal, but very organised and professional. The school has a lovely situation close by the old section of Tours and attracts a wide range of committed students of all ages, from 'language tourists' to those needing French for professional purposes. The home stay arranged for me by cle connected me with an authentic French family and I enjoyed my time with them very much.

Time tested and True!

This summer, I accompanied nine young ladies and their French teacher from Charleston, South Carolina to the city of Tours with the purpose of attending a French School called Cle. As a teacher myself, my first impression of the staff at Cle was the level of patience and sweet encouragement they offered our girls. Arriving every morning for three weeks to the enthusiastic smiles and eager faces of the ALL the students attending this fine establishment was impressive. The host families provided by the school were exceptional. Favorite meals, birthday parties and week end retreats concluded in many tearful farewells and promises to return. The real unexpected bonus was the city itself. Walking in the footsteps of Roman Prefects, Gallic saints and Feudal kings led to many amazing places all around the school, such as Charlemagne's medieval tower, the half timbered cafes in Place Plumereau, along with the haunting sounds of the musette reflected over the river Loire. If there was ever a place to learn french and immerse yourself in all that is French, you will find it at CLE!!! where the square for . Traveling west by bike took us to

GREAT FRENCH SCHOOL !!!

CLE is THE FRENCH SCHOOL wich will give you the opportunity to learn french with FUN an SUCESS! Outstanding is the teacher-team wich is positiv and motivated!!! No matter if you stay for two weeks or three month you will have a great time. All teachers of CLE are very supportiv, no matter if its a grammar question or a question concerning " wich train should I take to go to Chateau Chennonceau". Important detail: CLE is for ALL AGES! Better saying CLE fits for the 16-20 but also for the 30,40,50 and 60 :) If you have any question you can ask director Isabelle anytime!!! I really recomande CLE because I had two times (okt 2015 and april until june 2016) a great time at CLE!!!

Best Immersion Experience- CLE, Tours, France

After months of research via friends, online et al, I located CLE in Tours, France. From the start, they were very responsive and supportive of all my questions. Despite my uncertainty in traveling to France in 2016 by myself from the USA, it was one of the best experiences in my life. I stayed with a remarkable host family and the classes/private instruction at CLE were outstanding! I will go back next year without question!

I learned to speak French in 12 weeks

CLE is the most amazing language school in all of France. The teachers were so nice and excellent teachers. The director, Isobelle was always available and fixed things immediately. There were no more than 7 to a class and there was Airconditioning. Most schools don't have airconditioning and have 17-19 in a class, can you imagine? We worked very hard but we certainly got our money's worth in a very friendly, happy atmosphere, full of laughter and with great success.

Super Sprachschule mit vielen Freizeitaktivitäten

Ich habe vier Wochen bei CLE in Tours verbracht und habe in einer superlieben Familie gewohnt. Die Schule liegt sehr zentral in der wunderschönen Altstadt. Dank der recht guten ÖV-Verbindungen kann man am Wochenende viel unternehmen. Die Schule teilt die Gruppen so auf, dass man immer viel lernt. Am Morgen ist eher seriöse Grammatik, Hör- und Leseverständnis angesagt, am Nachmittag gibt es die "Ateliers", die man sich selber zusammenstellen kann. Dort wird das freie Sprechen gefördert und man lernt viel über die Französische Geschichte und Kultur. Nach der Schule und am Wochenende bietet die Schule eine Vielfalt an Freizeitaktivitäten zu erschwinglichen Preisen an. So besucht man Schlösser und Gärten oder fährt mit dem Velo der Loire entlang. Ich kann diese Schule wirklich sehr empfehlen, wenn man sich in möglichst kurzer Zeit möglichst viel verbessern will!

Great program!!!

What a great group of instructors and a fantastic location in the heart of Tours for studying! Also, Tours is so nice with such history, but certainly walkable or manageable by public transportation. My group of students was held accountable for learning (en français) and didn't want to leave even after 3 weeks!

Tolle Sprachschule an der Loire!

Um meine Französischkenntnisse weiter zu verbessern, habe ich zwei Wochen bei CLE in Tours verbracht und bin absolut begeistert. Die Schule liegt mitten in der hübschen Altstadt und das Lehrerteam empfängt einen sehr herzlich, offen und freundlich. Das Arbeiten ist allerdings kein entspannter Spaziergang! In einem ausführlichen Test wird am Anfang das jeweilige Niveau der Schüler herausgefunden, man wird in Leistungsgruppen eingeteilt und arbeitet dann konzentriert daran, sich weiter zu verbessern. Obwohl viel von den Schülern verlangt wird, ist die Atmosphäre entspannt und freundschaftlich, wozu auch die vielen Freizeitangebote beitragen. Schön war auch, dass sich CLE im Vorfeld um eine Unterkunft gekümmert hatte, die ganz genau zu den Wünschen und Bedürfnissen der Schüler passte. Ich war jedenfalls rundum zufrieden und war bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal dort!

Tolle zwei Wochen Sprachkurs an der Loire

Sommer 2016 verbrachte ich zwei Wochen an der Sprachschule CLE, um mein Französisch aufzufrischen. Durch Vermittlung der Sprachschule war ich in einer Gastfamilie untergebracht – die sich wie CLE als super toll erwiesen hat! Die Familie war bei allem sehr bemüht, das Essen abends typisch französisch und sehr lecker. Die Sprachschule hat es über den Eingangstest gut verstanden mich im Sprachniveau richtig einzuschätzen – so wie ich waren alle mit ihrer Gruppe zufrieden. Die Gruppengröße mit 4 – 7 Schülern empfand ich als ideal, bei einem 8. Schüler im gleichen Niveau wird eben geteilt und weiter differenziert. Die Unterrichtszeit am Vormittag und 1 bis 2 Nachmittage sind angemessen, durch Hausaufgaben kann man das Erlernte üben und vertiefen. In der freien Zeit kann jeder weiter in das Französische einzutauchen: Gemeinsames Mittagessen mit anderen Sprachschülern in den vielen Restaurants im Stadtviertel (schon ab etwa 7 Euro), verschiedene Aktivitäten der Sprachschule oder auch weitere Treffen unter den Sprachschülern. Durch die internationale Zusammensetzung wird dabei wirklich Französisch gesprochen. Die Schule ist nachmittags offen, hier kann man individuell Bibliothek, Computer und freies Internet nutzen – oder einfach Kontakte zu anderen Sprachschülern knüpfen. CLE mit seinen engagierten Lehrkräften schafft es, eine angenehme und lockere, aber dennoch zielgerichtete Atmosphäre zu schaffen. Direktorin Isabelle ist die treibende Kraft: taff aber sehr herzlich, bei vielen Aktivitäten ganz vorne mit dabei! Tours ist eine schöne Stadt an der Loire mit vielen bekannten Schlössern in der Umgebung, ein Fahrrad verschafft einem eine prima Flexibilität: entweder mitbringen oder vor Ort ausleihen. Tours kann über Paris (eine Stunde TGV) auch aus Deutschland gut erreicht werden.

2 Weeks in Tours....Should've Stayed Longer

Fantastic learning environment for a French newbie. I work in Francophone Africa and needed to get a base of the French language. The teachers are fantastic and really force you to step outside of your comfort zone and speak the language. I hope to return again next summer for longer than 2 weeks. Would highly recommend it!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I was impressed with CLE from the outset. I had a prompt and friendly response to my initial enquiry and received lots of practical advice and information before travelling. There is a thorough assessment of your ability when you arrive so in my experience there was no time wasted with people having to move groups to find the correct level. I enjoyed having the same teacher for each of the morning sessions but then having different members of staff for the varied and interesting afternoon workshops. I would recommend having the 1:1 sessions on offer too, particularly if your time is limited; I only had two weeks and would have loved to stay longer. The school is efficiently run and very well resourced, with up-to-date teaching materials, a library and a bank of laptops for individual study. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive; the approach to learning is focused and professional. For me the school experience was wonderfully complemented by my stay with a lovely host family. I felt it was a privilege to be this family's guest and my brief immersion in French life was enriching and unforgettable.

My only regret is that I didn't stay longer!

I am a 34 year old professional who always regretted not taking his French classes back in high school seriously... and this summer I finally had the chance between jobs to try and rectify this. I looked into multiple French Immersion Courses across different areas of France before finally settling on CLÉ, and I can honestly say it was a fantastic experience. The teachers were excellent, the city of Tours was fantastic and Isabelle the head of the school was very involved in ensuring a wonderful experience. The numerous photo collages all over the walls dating back to the disco era attest to this being a labor of love for these people. I stayed with a host family just across the Loire river and I could not have asked for a better family to be placed with. The bike ride to school and back along the banks of the river was a treat in and of itself. The lessons were hard at first but by the end of the first week I could feel myself getting better and through the second week I was improving exponentially. Unfortunately that was all the time I could dedicate to this adventure. I wish I could have stayed longer. As it is, I guess I'll just have to go back :)

6 semaines en Touraine :-)

Je suis allée en séjour linguistique à Tours pour me préparer à l’examen de DALF. L’école CLE est vraiment professionnelle et j’ai bien aimé l’ambiance familiale. A côté des cours réguliers j’ai choisi des cours particuliers dont j’ai profité beaucoup. Bien sûr on n’a pas seulement été en salle de classe. Nous avons fait plusieurs excursions : Ballade en canoë sur la Loire, visite des jardins de Chaumont, sortir ensemble pour être gourmand (il faut profiter de la cuisine française !), visiter les expositions (musée des beaux-arts, exposition de Sabine Weiss), etc. Cette école m’a permis de concilier les deux choses : l’apprentissage de la langue française et profiter de la culture française en faisant des activités avec les amis ! Je vous conseille chaleureusement de passer votre séjour linguistique à Tours dans l’école CLE !

Wunderbare Zeit in Tours bei CLE

Während drei Wochen habe ich im Sommer 2016 in Tour Französisch gelernt. Auf der einen Seite hat mir Tours sehr gefallen. Restaurants in allen Preisklassen und die Nähe zur Loire mit diversen schönen Velowegen zu den unterschiedlichen Schlössern waren für mich die grossen Vorteile. Die Gastfamilie war sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Die Schule CLE war für mich der Schlüssel, um mein Französisch aufzubessern. Die Kleinklassen mit motivierten Lehrkräften waren für mich ideal. Auch sonst haben sich die Schulverantwortlichen viel Mühe bei den Freizeitaktivitäten und dem Schulprogramm gegeben, damit es ein gelungener Sprachaufenthalt wird. Für mich war die Zeit in Tours und in der Schule CLE ein Volltreffer, an die ich gerne zurückdenke. Besten Dank! Thomas

Excellent language school

I attended the school for two weeks in July/August and I was very impressed by the quality of the teaching and the friendly atmosphere. The classes are small which is something that I appreciated, and the staff members were lovely. I found the lessons challenging but not overwhelmingly so and I am sure that I made progress. I was very happy that I was able to start lessons only a week after applying online, as it was a last-minute decision for me to start learning French at a language school. I would recommend Clé to others.

A Rich Experience

No one could go into a language learning experience with higher ideals! I am a teacher, 20 years of experience, having taught ESOL and English and a bit of French, so I was curious about how effective and serious the teaching at CLE would be. I had investigated many schools as they are all over France, and finally felt CLE was a good fit. The school is run well, the teachers are enthusiastic and skilled at their craft. The classes make you work as hard as you want without being oppressive or punitive. I went from feeling like a weak French speaker to a much more confident learner of French who could take mistakes in stride and overcome them. Activities are arranged and interestingly, the teachers and Isabelle jump in and participate. It isn't like they are fulfilling some requirement, but they are living enthusiastically alongside the students. One also has the sense that the teachers are friends and enjoy each other as well as the students creating a fun atmosphere. From visiting castles to canoeing underneath the castle's archways, the school is creative in its excursions. I am trying to figure out now how to take my upper level French students to Tours in order to experience CLE and all it has to offer. I am happy to be contacted if anyone wants more detailed descriptions if I can figure out a way on the site. Thanks!

A very well oganised language school

This was my second visit to CLE and that in itself speaks volumes. Another student in my class was also returning for a refresher and I heard news of at least one other student from my earlier visit. The "students" are generally very motivated and the Directrice and her staff put a lot of effort into identifying the correct level of instruction and also the mix in a particular class. The class sizes do not exceed six or seven and the teaching is thorough and well prepared by the profs. The age range of the students ranges from groups in their twenties, quite a substantial young professional group needing to up their language skills for professional reasons and some older language "tourists". The physical environment of CLE is lovely - a restored historic property in the old town and the atmosphere created by the Directrice and her staff is friendly and extremely cordial. there are frequent after-school trips to chateaux and the like and these always go down well. Tours is a beautiful small city and it is a great place to go out at night. The students often meet in bars to keep practicing their French! It is also well endowed with markets so if you like cooking with fresh produce you are in luck. I could go on for hours but I cannot recommend it too highly.

CLE wie Klasse

Waehrend 6 Wochen besuchte ich die Schule CLE, welche ich sehr empfehlen kann. Zu Beginn war mein Niveau auf einem B1 und am Ende B2. Die Lehrpersonen arbeiten auf einem sehr hohem qualitativen sowie auch quantitativem Niveau. Die Lehrer sind flexibel und gehen auf jeden Schueler individuell ein. Die Schulleitung der Schuele spricht mehrere Sprachen und ihr ist ein persoenlicher Kontakt zu den Schuelern von grosser Bedeutung. Bei Problemen ist die Schulleitung jederzeit verfuegbar und bereit zu helfen. Der Unterricht findet morgens in den Kleingruppe statt und am Nachmittag besteht die Moeglichkeit fuer Privatunterricht, welcher in meinen Augen sehr effektiv ist, weil man an den persoenlichen Schwerpunkten arbeitet. In meinem Fall arbeiteten wir an meiner schriftlichen Bewerbung und am muendlichen Bewerbungsgespraech, welche erfogleich von statten ging. Das Freizeitangebot der Schule ist sehr abwechslungsreich und ermoeglicht die franzoesische Kultur, Kulinarik, die Stadt Tours sowie Umgebung kennenzulernen. Bespielsweise mit einer sehr schoenen Segelschiffsfahrt auf der Loire. Die Gastfamilien, werden von der Schule sorgfaeltigst ausgewaehlt. Mit meiner Gastfamilie war ich besonders zufrieden! Zusammenfassend: CLE ist eine Sprachschule, die einen professionellen Intensivkurs in Franzoesisch anbietet. Das Klima an der Schule ist sehr angenehm und lernfoerdernd. An der Schule duerfen gratis Computer, Internet, Scanner, Videos und Buecher benutzt werden.

Eine geniale Zeit in Tours

Im Juli 2015 ging ich für drei Wochen nach Tours, um an der Sprachschule CLE Französisch zu lernen. Es war eine unvergessliche Zeit. Man lernt intensiv in kleinen Klassen, die Lehrer sind sehr kompetent – und vor allem kommt die gute Laune nicht zu kurz: es gibt immer viel zu lachen. Man lernt viel über Land und Leute, was das Verständnis für die Sprache noch erhöht. Das Angebot der Schule wird abgerundet durch Ausflüge in die Umgebung – es finden sich immer Mitschüler, die auch per Bahn oder Fahrrad das Loire-Tal erkunden wollen. Ich würde jederzeit wieder CLE in Tours besuchen.

By far the best

I spent four weeks at CLE in Tours in May / June 2015. They were by far the best four weeks of an entire year of intensive french lessons conducted at the British Defence Academy and the Univeristy of Westminster. Beyond the small class sizes, the tightly controlled levels (streaming) by ability from day one, and the immersion generated by living with a french family, the CLE experience is out of this world. Our teachers put so much effort into every single lesson, with materials from literally the previous day's news or media on a regular basis. All of that run alongside the workshops which were varied and interesting, fun and engaging. Then just when you thought you might get five minutes off, the school teaching staff were joining us for lunch and for visits around the town (which is perfect in size and shape) or further afield. Isabelle the directrice routinely joins in visits to the chateaus and holds the cycling challenge cup for anyone feeling a little sporty who might venture along the Loire. I would go back in a heartbeat and I would recommend CLE to anyone considering learning french at any level, age, and for any period. The experience was simply fabulous. A few months on I am now able to fully participate in the french Ecole de Guerre, largely thanks to CLE.

SUPERB EXPERIENCE

After spending four weeks in June at CLE located in Tours, France for a French immersion language course, I have found that among the other (FLE) language schools which I had attended in other cities of France, as well as in Québec, this one in Tours is superior. This city is conveniently reachable by train from Paris' Charles DeGaulle airport. The director and all the teachers are specialist in teaching French to the foreigners, they are very attentive to the students' needs -- scholastic, health, as well as social. What is taught in the morning classes is put into practice immediately. I liked the afternoon "atelier" sessions where various current topics were discussed, and the participation of the fellow classmates (of various professional backgrounds) who unselfishly shared their actual experience/knowledge of the topic enhanced not only the discussion but also had broadened my own viewpoint on the subject being discussed. The classes are small, maximum is seven students, we get acquainted and shared our learning very quickly. The media lab was available to everyone, to practice listening and oral comprehension. Tours is a smaller and less complex city, for a person who has very little sense of directions, getting lost in Tours did not become too frightening. My host family (ma famille d'accueil) was very kind and attentive to me, they gave me a nice and quiet room, good French food, invited me to join them on some of their activities and outings. The region is beautiful, there is a lot of history and a lot of natural beauty. The parks and the gardens are beautiful, one could spend days just visiting the chateaux and their park like grounds. It was a special treat for me to go to the Cathedral St. Gatien to listen to their pipe organ, and attend the children's choir in concert at St. Julien le Pauvre Church. These children all sang like professionals. Weather-wise, June is a good month, not too cold, not too hot, definitely stay for the annual Music Feast (Fête de la Musique) where one hears and dances to free live band performances throughout the city from noon to late night. I definitely recommend the school, CLE and the city, Tours to everyone who is seriously interested in learning French or wants to travel with a purpose.

AWESOME

Had an awesome time at CLE, the staff and the teachers were so nice, concerned and very helpful. Recommend this to everyone who really wants to learn a language, speak a lot and get to know France and its beautiful culture. Had an awesome host family who did everything for me, they accepted me as their own. Teachers made class fun and exciting, classes were small with awesome classmates. My highlight was the canoe trip on the Loire, it was so much fun! Merci à Isabelle et à tous qui ont fait mon séjour ici si mémorable. Hoping to go back next year!

I had a fantastic 2 week stay in Tours studying at CLE. Isabelle was so kind and made every student feel so welcome and I particularly enjoyed the bike rides in the afternoons along the Loire! The course itself exceeded my expectations and I was lucky enough to have Marlene as my teacher who was brilliant. My host family were like my own family and I was in tears when I left them. Don't hesitate to spend at least 2 weeks here, you will want to stay for longer and to return!

Mon séjour linguistique à CLE

A truly phenomenal experience! The energetic environment with enthusiastic teachers kept my motivation going. The creative teaching method was engaging - each day provided a challenging and unique learning focus. Classes had a good range of ages with maximum 7 students in each class. I enjoyed the afternoon workshops especially those conducted by Gaëlle and David. My wonderful host family shared their local culture and gastronomy from the hospitality of their traditional French home. I enjoyed going out with them and their friends. The conversational exposure to the native French was a great way to immerse myself. Learning a new language is difficult and at times frustrating. CLE provides a strong foundation for the opportunity to learn French in a unique cultural environment. Excursions and activities organised by the school enhance the learning programme. Besides learning French, there is the opportunity to make new friends and experience daily life in a historic French town. I am very grateful to Isabelle (our principal) and Ludivine (my class teacher) for their commitment and dedication to teaching - alas I am starting to enjoy reading in French! I departed with fond memories and feeling more confident in speaking 'la langue de Molière'. The entire experience was an absolute pleasure and I look forward to returning to CLE. Monica de Sydney

IDEAL WAY TO LEARN, GREAT LIFE EXPERIENCE

After my month of avril at CLE in Tours, I hated to go home! The school is brilliantly organized to provide intense French training in a way that really works: everything you learn is immediately applied in discussions, readings, films, news clips. And living in Tours, in an apartment near CLE as I did, makes the experience complete. I simply existed in French, absorbing the language and culture with each breath. And with each step I took in this beautiful old city! Tours is ideally situated to let one enjoy the incredible richness of the Loire Valley -history, food, art, beauty, nature - it's all here. Eintauchen in die französische Kultur und Sprache

Zwei Wochen in der Sprachschule CLE in Tours mit Aufenthalt in einer Gastfamilie haben mir ein Eintauchen in die französische Kultur und Sprache ermöglicht, das ich zuvor nicht für möglich geglaubt hätte. Die familiäre Atmosphäre an der überschaubaren Schule, die motivierten und engagierten Lehrerinnen, der Kontakt und der Austausch mit anderen Studenten und die Diskussionen in der Gastfamilie haben mir nicht nur das Üben der französischen Sprache ermöglicht sondern mir auch Einblick in den Alltag gegeben und mein Verständnis für die französische Kultur erhöht. Die helle und lebendige Stadt Tours mit ihren Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Gaststätten, die herrliche Loirelandschaft mit ihren Schlössern und weiteren kulturellen Höhepunkten sowie die generelle Freundlichkeit der Einwohner der Touraine haben mich schwer beeindruckt! Es waren perfekte Ferien, bzw. ein toller Sprachaufenthalt, den ich jederzeit wiederholen würde!

Fabulous experience

I just returned from a month long intensive course at Cle tours. What a charming city and I can't say enough about the language program there. We met in small groups, 5-7 students at the same level of proficiency from 9-12:15 each day. We did grammar, oral comprehension and gave reports on current events, political satire, and movies. On Tuesdays and Thursday's we met again in the afternoon for "ateliers" where we played games, did oral comprehension, and learned about French culture. These went from 1:30-4:15. Then on Monday and Wednesday had private lessons from 1:45-3:15. The private lessons consisted of talking, oral comprehension, grammar, whatever you wanted to work on. The group I was with was fantastic. We were all adults mostly working on our French for pleasure. We were two Americans, three Swiss, and one Japanese. I rented an apartment around the corner from the institute which I found quite convenient. There was some homework, but not so much that I didn't have time to visit the chateaux of the Loire valley on the weekends. I can't wait to go back next year!

AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE

As a result of the great reviews I read here, I spent all month of November 2014 in CLE. The academy is placed within the old centre of Tours (beautiful) and I must say it lives up to its reputation, as from the very first moment you feel a warm welcome from both teachers and students. Isabelle (la directrice) takes care of you and asks always for feedback with a smile on her face. Teachers are great and classes are small size. There is a great atmosphere from the mixture of nationalities and ages of the students, who at the same time take very seriously the french immersion – giving the experience a great cultural enrichment. I also signed up for a host family and, after taking into account my needs, they found one excellent, making the experience unforgettable! My french has strongly improved and I can’t help but recommend this experience to anyone willing to give their french a boost! I will definitely come back!

Best Of Both Worlds

I have just finished a wonderful 3 months in Tours at CLE.Not only did my French come on enormously but I had great fun. The teachers are wonderful and very informative. The town of Tours has a lot to offer and for me spending 3 months at school in Tours was definitely the Best Of Both Worlds!! Would I go back? You bet! Summer 2015 is already earmarked for my return!

Better than Uni

My study at CLE was very short lived, unfortunately, as I was on a Foreign University Exchange and only had one week holiday, which I chose to use for further study. Yes, I'm a language nerd! Sad for me, but great for those of you ready to improve your French, I found that I learned more in one week at CLE Tours, than in 4 months at Uni. The teachers are kind, happy and knowledgable and have the happy knack of pin-pointing your needs and filling them. Just do it. You will be glad you did.

beyond expectation

My study with CLE was short (2 weeks) but it has helped me a lot! It was certainly beyond my expectation of regular language course. Here’s why… 1. I liked the idea that CLE place students of the same level in the same class, yet CLE also offers workshops where students from different levels can mix. Of course, they would suggest which workshop is more suitable for which level. 2. The course is well balanced, not only grammar but also cultural relevance and current usages. This, in particular, extended my vocabulary a lot. 3. The teachers are very professional and they really helped me figure out which area could use a bit extra work. 4. Last but not least, I really appreciate the small class size (max. 7 students, if I’m not mistaken). This really allows us to practice, practice and practice. If you *seriously* want to improve your French, CLE is THE school!

Ne pas hésiter

Attending courses can sometimes be daunting when you've gone beyond your school days! We all need a little courage sometimes to go into the unknown. So if you are debating about this course in the slightest - just take the step and go for it. I am glad that I did. For this course has many truly welcoming positives: the small group sizes (max 7); mix of ages (beyond teen agers but not all OAP's !); friendly, enthusiastic staff; central location; activity lessons in the afternoon (baking, games etc) and Isabelle's personal interest in finding suitable accommodation for you. In addition I found Tours to be a great, relaxed city, beautiful architecture, old square with restaurants etc and a city which is easy to walk around and very cycle friendly. I aim to goo back - next time I would stay with a host family as everyone who did had very good words to say about them. Bonne Chance

Ecole CLE - Tours: OUTSTANDING!

I have just completed 4 weeks immersion at CLE and cannot speak more highly of my experience there. The pace, the focus, the attention to detail (depending on an individual's needs) was truly excellent. Everyone brought different levels of competence to the class - for instance, some could speak fluently, but were weaker at grammar (or vice versa). Our teacher always focused her questioning on the right person. On top of this, the lessons were fun and left us wanting to do our best for ourselves and for her. Sometimes the homework seemed a lot, but it was never overwhelming. I enjoyed the challenge of completing it whilst also maintaining a healthy social life! I could not speak more highly of our teacher: dedicated, professional, creative and fun: truly outstanding. Thank you CLE! My one-on-one teacher was a complete joy to be taught by and the hour just flew by always. She was excellent at correcting me without 'stifling' my enthusiasm. 10/10! The school is very well run and the Directrice is always looking for ways to further improve the detail. She regularly asks for student feedback which is often acted upon, and the staff clearly enjoy working as a part of her team.

Magnifique séjour!

Ich kann nur etwas aussetzen an meinem Sprachaufenthalt, nämlich dass ich nur 1 Woche in Tours war! Die CLE unterscheidet sich in der Grüsse zu anderen Schulen: Sie ist klein, so dass man fast alle Schüler kennt und pro Klasse hat es maximal 7 Schüler. Dies trägt einerseits zum effektiven Lernen und andererseits zur familiären Atmosphäre bei. Zudem ist das Durchschnittsalter 30. Besonders gibt aber die Herzlichkeit von Isabelle und den Lehrern der CLE den speziellen Touch. Dank ihres Engagements wie auch Interessen am Kontakt mit den Schülern fühlte ich mich vom ersten Moment an wohl an der Schule. Zudem ist die CLE perfekt in der Altstadt von Tour gelegen, alles liegt in Gehdistanz; ob die Place Plumerau, la Guinguette, die Geschäfte oder die Loire. Der Schulunterricht am Morgen ist strukturiert aufgebaut und fokussiert stark auf das Schulbuch. Die Ateliers und Privatstunden am Nachmittag lassen mehr Freiraum für Diskussionen zu.

UNFORGETTABLE and INSPIRING

I have just completed a wonderful 3 weeks at CLE in Tours. I've toyed around trying to learn French for many years and recent retirement gave me the chance to pursue an intensive course which has done wonders for my confidence in speaking the language. I did lots of research to find the 'right' school for me and CLE easily met all my expectations. LA Directrice Isabelle and her excellent team cannot be complimented highly enough on both the quality of the teaching and the supportive and welcoming atmosphere in which students and staff operate. Two other points that impressed me about CLE (1) its 'smaller classes' approach whereby students can integrate closely with teachers and fellow students - no danger of being lost or forgotten in large classes and (2) the wide ranging age mix of students. CLE also made excellent arrangements for me to live with a local family - a lovely experience that added to the overall pleasure of my trip to Tours I cannot recall enjoying school so much and have no hesitation in recommending CLE if you are minded to learn or improve your French.

Angenehmes Lernen in entspannter Atmosphäre

Wir waren zwei Wochen bei einem Intensiv-Sprachkurs in der Sprachschule CLE in Tours und ich kann diese Schule nur weiter empfehlen. Engagierte und kompetente Lehrkräfte, kleine Lerngruppen, abwechslungsreicher Unterricht und eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre machten die zwei Wochen zu einer tollen Zeit. Ich konnte meine mündliche Ausdrucksfähigkeit deutlich verbessern und die Scheu zu sprechen komplett ablegen. Ich kann CLE uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

CLE: Une école excellente et cordiale!

Nach vier Wochen Sprachschule in Tours kann ich sagen: CLE war die absolut richtige Wahl! Mein Ziel war es, meine Französischkenntnisse, die ich bei meiner beruflichen Tätigkeit benötige, zu vertiefen und vor allem den mündlichen Ausdruck zu verbessern. Dank des Kurses (2 Wochen Intensivkurs + Privatstunden, 2 Wochen Intensivkurs) konnte ich dieses Ziel erreichen. Ich bin mit Freude an der französischen Sprache und einem verbesserten sprachlichen Ausdruck nach Hause gekommen. Bei CLE werden die individuellen Bedürfnisse gross geschrieben. Der sehr seriös durchgeführte ausführliche Einstufungstest erlaubte eine fein abgestimmte Klasseneinteilung. Mit nur 4-6 Schülern in meiner Klasse profitierte ich enorm. Meine Lehrerin bereitete die Stunden professionell vor. Jeder inhaltliche Wunsch von Seiten der Studenten wurde aufgenommen und im Unterricht behandelt. Die Mischung zwischen Konversation, Vertiefung grammatikalischer Themen und Hör-/Leseverständnis war sehr gut. In den Einzelstunden konnte ich einzelne Aspekte (z.B. E-Mail Korrespondenz, Telefongespräche) noch vertiefen. Bei einem nächsten Mal würde ich von Anfang an für den gesamten Aufenthalt zusätzlich zum Gruppenunterricht Einzelstunden buchen. Mit viel Engagement kümmert sich die Direktorin um das Wohl der Studenten und bietet eine Reihe interessanter begleiteter Ausflüge an. Auch die Auswahl der Gastfamilie ist professionell. So konnte ich meine mündlichen Sprachkenntnisse in der Freizeit zu Hause gleich weiter trainieren und gleichzeitig viel über Frankreich und seine Kultur, Politik etc. lernen. Bref: C'était un séjour magnifique et inoubliable dans une école, que je peux recommander sans retenue!

Innerhalb von 6 Wochen von A1 auf B1/2....

Fast alle Schweizer müssen in der Schule Französisch lernen und fast alle haben Mühe mit der Sprache. Ssomit habe ich mich mit 57 Jahren entschieden, dieses Manko zu verbessern. Ich startete auf dem Niveau A1 und bereits nach 3 Wochen konnte ich auf das Niveau B1/2 aufsteigen. Dieser für mich persönliche Erfolg war nur deshalb möglich, weil der Lerninhalt sehr professionell und einfühlend vermittelt wird! Ich bin heute schon sicher, dass ein weiterführender Kurs wieder in Tours bei CLE sein wird!

Ich verbrachte 2 Monate in Tours zwecks Verbesserung meiner Französischkenntnisse. Aus diesem Grund besuchte ich während dieser Zeit die Sprachschule CLE. CLE ist zweifellos die beste Sprachschule, die ich je besucht habe. Um die wundervolle und engagierte Direktorin Isabelle gruppiert sich ein Team von netten, motivierten und sehr gut vorbereiteten Lehrerinnen. Bei von Isabelle durchgeführten Aktivitäten hat man die Möglichkeit spannende und lustige Erfahrungen zu machen. Der grosse Vorteil sehe ich unter anderem in den kleinen Klassen, die einem die Möglichkeit geben, einen persönlichen Kontakt zu den Lehrpersonen und Mitstudenten aufzubauen und natürlich helfen, die mündliche Fertigkeit zu verbessern. Die Stimmung in dieser Schule ist einzigartig. Ich werde definitiv zurückkehren. Ich hatte eine geniale Zeit in CLE!

Great and inspiring experience

I am back from a four weeks French course at CLE to reactivate and improve my French. It was definitely worth it!!! Isabelle, the owner of the school, welcomed us on the first day and after a fair test, everybody was assigned to the appropriate level. I enjoyed my classes a lot, which was due to a very high professional level of the teachers and their enthusiasm for their language. Beside grammar, reading and listening comprehension I learned a lot about French life and culture and we had very dedicated and enriching discussions in class. The atmosphere at CLE as well as at my host family was very friendly and respectful. I think that CLE carefully chooses its host families. Thus, I definitely felt very comfortable with my host and I highly appreciated to be her guest. The location of the school is also perfect and made it possible to enjoy a very nice “formule” for lunch in different restaurants close by the school (you can get everything you want for lunch around the school, also take away). Besides the classes, CLE suggests different activities, which were definitely worthwhile, for example discovering the châteaux by bike. All in all I highly recommend CLE and the inspiring atmosphere let me rediscover the French language!

Highly recommended

I first found out about CLE a couple of months ago when I was searching online for an intensive language course in France. The good reviews made me curious and finally decide to choose for CLE. I spent the last 2 weeks in Tours, and only wish I could have stayed longer. I was placed, to my own surprise, in an advanced class, but I’m grateful that I was. I learned plenty of new grammar and the teacher was both passionate and highly professional. Also the workshops were really fun to attend and mainly practical. As for the school, it is a small institute. The owner of the school, Isabelle, knows everyone by name (so do all the teachers by the way) which makes it a warm and friendly environment. Classes are small and consisted of people from a variety of nationalities and different ages. Although I think 2 weeks is a little short to really make large improvements, especially in a more advanced stage, I still feel that these two weeks have brought me a lot. All in all, the perfect location of the school (in the center of the city) the small school-community and the high quality of the staff made it for me the perfect place to learn/improve the language.

A ONE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE!!

I first heard about CLE when I read a NY Times article that had been published in the 80s. This immediately sparked my interest because if a school has stayed open for over 30 years, there is a reason. And CLE is no exception. I am not someone who learns languages easily and somehow over the course of the 3 months I attended classes, I managed to become conversational. I had an absolutely wonderful experience living and studying in little city of Tours. The professors are amazing and the combination of lecture, activities, and private classes was the perfect way for me to learn a difficult language. While in Tours, I lived with a host family a little bit outside of the main town and I still keep in touch with them today. And not only that, but the people you meet at CLE will be your friends for a lifetime. So, if you want to learn French from amazing people in a remarkable place and make lifelong friends along the way, then CLE is the school for you.

Un rêve devenu réalité!

J'avais prévu d'apprendre le français, ou mieux dire réapprendre mon lycée français, pendant une longue période, mais n'a jamais eu le temps j'ai jugé nécessaire de le faire. Maintenant que je suis à la retraite que j'ai fait! Et j'ai choisi CLE pour plusieurs raisons. Le plus important est Isabelle, le directeur. Elle fait vraiment la différence. Elle est tellement excitée à propos de l'école et des étudiants que vous vous sentez à la maison, à première vue. Ensuite parce CLE est une école pour les étrangers qui veulent vraiment apprendre le français. Les classes sont petites alors l'immersion est beaucoup plus productif et les profs sont pleinement engagé à l'enseignement. Et, enfin, mais non le moindre, Isabelle prépare des programmes d'activités pour tous les week-end, donc les étudiants peuvent profiter de l'environnement de la ville la plus mignonne de Tours et la Touraine. J'ai passé 12 semaines à CLE et, malheureusement, le temps a passé très vite. Mais je serai de retour l'année prochaine, nous sommes donc en dehors juste pour un moment.

Besser kann man Französisch als Erwachsener nicht lernen!

Nach 4 Wochen intensiven, aber stets freudigen Lernens, bin ich überzeugt: CLE war die beste Wahl. Ich wüsste nicht, was man besser machen könnte, denn hier stimmt buchstäblich alles. Ich wollte mein viele Jahre brach liegendes Schulfranzösisch reaktivieren und so weiter entwickeln, dass ich zu einer einigermaßen vernünftigen Konversation fähig bin. Ich denke, das ist mir mit Hilfe von CLE gelungen. Ich habe mich in der wohltuend persönlichen Schulatmosphäre wohlgefühlt und das vielseitige Lehrangebot gerne angenommen. Die Profs sind engagiert und hoch qualifiziert und bilden ein sympathisches Team, das sich um die souveräne Chefin, Isabelle Aubert, schart. Der Unterricht findet im attraktiven Zentrum von Tours in einem gekonnt umgestalteten "Denkmal" statt, das so gar nichts von einem Schulgebäude hat. Ergänzt wird das Ganze durch interessante Aktivitäten, die einem die Stadt und das Umfeld zusätzlich nahebringen. Und nicht zu vergessen: die von CLE ausgesuchte private Unterkunft. Auch das hätte nicht besser sein können - und dazu eine charmante, gebildete Gastgeberin, die mich bestens mit französischer Küche versorgte. Sans doute - je reviendrais!

Wouldn't go anywhere else!

I spent three weeks at CLE and really wished I could have been there longer! The classes were very useful for expanding my vocabulary and all the students were very motivated. The workshops/ateliers improved my ability to articulate my opinion on current events. It's clear that Isabelle organizes the excursions in part because she truly enjoys getting to know the students. I had a great time getting to know Isabelle and the professors both inside and outside of a classroom setting. The family I was put with was perfect and all of the other students at CLE agreed that Isabelle had a special knack for matching up students with host families. My famille d'accueil went out of their way by making sure I got to try all the regional specialties and never cooking the same thing twice. Tours is a fantastic place to learn french. Business owners in the city quickly learn your faces and like that you're here to learn French so treat you so warmly. With a host family, it's easy to get immersed into your local community and i took part in a number of community events. The home stay really helped me pick up everyday expressions and vocabulary as I was constantly asked for my opinion on the European Union. I experienced some serious withdrawal after I left and would go back in a heartbeat! I'm currently trying to take time off work to make my way back to this lovely school and city. Thanks for the great experience!

First Class Learning Experience

I have just completed 4 weeks at CLÉ in Tours, a combination of group classes and workshops, and private tuition. I attended in order to give structure to the French I already know, as well as to improve my command of the language in written and spoken forms. I found the environment to be incredibly warm, welcoming, and supportive. The approach is an immersive one, and the very effective approach of Isabelle Aubert and her top-class faculty causes you to be surrounded by the French language at all times: you learn both with deliberation, and by osmosis! I was struck most by the high levels of pedagogical competence of the teachers, their sensitivity, and their intelligence is divining the best ways to get each student to learn in the most efficient manner possible. The location of the school in the centre of old Tours, and in this exceedingly beautiful region of France just add to the appeal. I mostly highly and heartily recommend CLÉ to all who would like to improve their French systematically and significantly, in the hands of expert teachers!

Sympa!

I spent 2 weeks at CLE and had a great time. The classes (3 hours a day) were very well taught and covered a wide range of grammar, vocab and general conversation. Isabelle, who runs the school, is fantastic - very friendly and welcoming. Chatting to her really improved my French. I also stayed with a friendly host family. Going biking and canoeing with them and Isabelle was great fun. Talking French at mealtimes was also really useful. I would really recommend CLE and Tours as a place to study French.

A great 5 week experience

A great experience-the teaching top-notch, classes small and meticulously covering the treacherous but so interesting ground that is the French language. The teachers great, warm, the text book paced along all areas of France, modern and old-culture, social issues, cinema, politics, history-all this with lots of grammar, vocabulary and oral practice. The host family was friendly, accomodating, central-the city beautiful with lots of surrounding interests. This is a no-nonsense course that takes you very fast and in a concrete manner to the next level-whatever that is-it is also amazing for preparing for exams-I would definitely repeat the experience and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Studying at CLÉ was a great experience. I really improved my French and had a great time doing it. The teachers were all excellent, and the classes were interesting. I was especially impressed by the genuine interest the teachers showed in each student, even outside the classroom. Isabelle, the owner of the school, makes an effort to know each student. One Sunday I took a nice bike ride with Isabelle and another student to Amboise, a small city near Tours. CLÉ has a friendly and welcoming environment thanks to Isabelle and all of the teachers. The conversations I had with my host family after class and during dinners were invaluable in improving my French. My host family were lovely, fed me well, and made me feel very welcome during my stay. If you’re looking to do an intensive French course I would certainly recommend studying at CLÉ. I spoke French constantly for three weeks, and by the end of my stay my French was at a level I didn’t think I could reach in such a short amount of time. I’d love to study at CLÉ again in the future!

OTTIMA ESPERIENZA

Le mie 4 settimane a Tours sono volate,grazie soprattutto all'accoglienza ricevuta al Cle. Fin dal primo giorno la direttrice Isabelle e le altre insegnanti mi hanno fatto sentire a casa e sono sempre state pronte a darmi informazioni sulla scuola ma anche sulla città e suggerimenti su cosa fare e dove andare durante il mio tempo libero. La scuola è in pieno centro, ed è fornita di un'ottima biblioteca che fornisce materiale per approfondire le lezioni o per dilettarsi su altri argomenti. Le classi sono sempre composte da piccoli gruppi il che aiuta molto l'apprendimento e consente di praticare al massimo la lingua, parlando e interagendo durante la lezione. Vorrei davvero ringraziare tutte le insegnanti e la direttrice per l'estrema disponibilità dimostrata nel rispondere a eventuali mie domande o dubbi, anche al di fuori dell'orario di lezione e per la loro gentilezza e professionalità. Mi mancherete!

Dix sur dix!

As the title suggests, I would thoroughly recommend studying French at CLÉ. I spent 2 weeks there in January and loved every minute. My French improved significantly in such a short period. The quality of the teaching was first rate. The morning lessons were in a class of 7, and this allowed the teacher to help each of us as required. We had been grouped together based on the test taken upon arrival, which meant all the students were about the same level. This ensured the lessons were well suited to our ability level. The afternoon workshops (Tue and Thu) provided a fascinating into French culture, from cinema and literature to politics and education. This was really useful for me, as I will be moving to Paris in the summer. The one-to-one sessions (Mon and Wed) were a great way to reinforce the morning lessons, and I really benefited from the individual tuition. Staying with a family, which was organised by CLÉ, meant the learning didn’t stop when class finished. I learnt so much French – and about the French and France – from the breakfast and dinner table. My hosts were great company and it was a home from home. CLÉ also organised no end of trips, which were a great way to get to find out more about the town and region and reflected the professionalism and enthusiasm of all the staff. Tours is a great place, and has something for everyone. I will be going back for another 4 weeks before relocating, and can’t wait for round 2 based on my previous experience. In sum, CLÉ gets dix sur dix from me!

CLÉ: POURQUOI PAS?

My experience at CLÉ can only be described as a life changing, soul cleansing and enriching experience. I started with French when I was 14 while I was at high school. I am currently a 20 year old law student and have been learning French for the past 6 years for my own pleasure. I stayed in Tours for an overall 6 weeks from December 2013 to January 2014. This exchange was an absolutely amazing! CLÉ is so much more than just a French school. It teaches you to love the language, the people, the culture, the history of this beautiful country. The school provides you with opportunities to learn to love France, to discover the culture and the beauty hidden in the tourist sites and the language. It is very easy to grow in one's ability to speak French at this amazing school. The school gives you an opportunity to grow in a comfortable environment with teachers who have both the passion and much needed energy to teach French. I have never experienced such patience and passion from teachers. I attended a total of 60 hours of class and I have made immense progress. I urge each and everyone who wants to learn French and also experience the true French culture and history to go to CLÉ. It was a magnificent experience. Pourquoi pas?

Terrific Tours!

Living, eating and breathing French in the heart of the Loire valley was a fantastic experience! Two weeks of full immersion language training at the CLÉ really has kick-started my learning. Isabelle and her staff listened to what I wanted and provided a bespoke service. The small classes and individual tutorials meant that I could progress at my own pace, in a pressure free environment. Impressively, the school also helped me prepare for my life in France. I chose a subject and CLÉ delivered. I learned about French food and wine, how to open a bank account, rent a flat and talk about a game of rugby. I was also lucky enough to live with a French family - M. and C. were fantastic hosts and their support made my stay even more memorable. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I am coming back to Tours for more!

Professioneel en warm

CLE is echt een aanbeveling waard. De school van directrice Isabelle is professioneel met daarbij een warme sfeer. Het is niet zo'n hele grote school en dat heeft zeker zijn voordelen. Tot slot is Tours, 1 uur onder Parijs met de TGV, een aangename stad om te vertoeven. Ik ga zeker nog een keer terug.

Escola de Excelencia

Eu fiz 2 semanas de aula em dezembro 2013. Procurei por um programa de imers�o exaustivamente na internet, mas finalmente decidi me matricular na CLE, foi a melhor decis�o. Sem sombra de d�vidas a melhor escola de lenguas q conhe�o. A escola tem uma estrutura fantastica q me possibilitou uma imers�o total no franc�s com um acompanhamento altamente personalizado. Professoras altamente capacitadas e ador�veis. No primeiro dia de aula, Isabelle nos apresentou a escola e nos levou pra fazer um passeio pela cidade velha nas proximidades da escola. Fomos ent�o divididos nas respectivas turmas. Eu fiquei numa turma que estava terminando o A1, portanto quase A2. O curso eh intenso, com aulas pela manh�. E oficinas no per�odo da tarde as ter�as e quintas. Nos demais dias da semana ficava na biblioteca estudando. Todos os dias, �amos almo�ar com Isabelle e um grupo de alunos de v�rias nacionalidades e n�veis diferentes. Isabelle escolhia restaurantes tipicamente franceses e a conversa corria solta, claro tudo em franc�s. Toda segunda-feira tem prova sobre o assunto da semana anterior. Na ultima semana, Isabelle e minha professora fizeram uma avalia��o do meu progresso e me propuseram a mudar de turma, fui ent�o colocado no n�vel B1. Achei fant�stico, pois estava numa turma de n�vel A1/A2 e elas perceberam q eu estava progredindo muito r�pido, dai consegui pular um n�vel. Fiquei muito feliz tamb�m com a fam�lia francesa que me conseguiram. A escola conseguiu uma fam�lia dentro das minhas expectativas. Estou muito feliz com a escolha que fiz e com o meu progresso. Hoje consigo me comunicar em franc�s sem problemas, gra�as a toda estrutura que a CLE me proporcionou, e por este motivo recomendo a todos os interessados em aprender franc�s. Boa sorte!!!

Immersion totale

Mijn doel was een week van ‘immersion totale’ in de Franse taal en cultuur. Dit is gelukt en de week bij CLE in Tours is omgevlogen waarbij ik van elke minuut heb genoten. Mijn alternatief voor Tours, Parijs, zou teveel afleiding hebben geboden, zou denk ik al snel niet meer puur Franstalig en bovendien zijn de afstanden van het gastgezin in de Parijse banlieu’s tot de school in het centrum niet meer te lopen, wat in Tours allemaal wel het geval was. CLE zelf barst van stijl en enthousiasme. De directrice zelf verwelkomt je op de eerste maandag bij de deur, neemt je en alle andere nieuwe studenten mee op een toeristische rondwandeling door de oude binnenstad. In mijn geval, omdat er zo weinig nieuwe studenten waren, beoordeelt zij je niveau van taalbeheersing tijdens die wandeling. Geen zenuwslopende testafname, gewoon een ontspannen gesprek over waar je vandaan komt en wat je interesses zijn. In het nazien bleek iedereen door haar op het juiste niveau te zijn geplaatst. In de klas heb je les van uiterst competente en gemotiveerde leraressen. Zij kennen je situatie en je wensen en proberen daar continue op in te spelen in hun lesaanbod bij de keuze van artikelen en zelfs in rollenspelen. De lessen hadden een heel prettig georganiseerde afwisseling van theorie en praktijk: praktijk was leuk maar du moment dat je wat theorie nodig had om de praktijk te staven was die er, en omgekeerd als de theorie te droog werd was je dankbaar voor weer praktijk. Kortom de keus voor Tours en CLE bleek een geïnspireerde. Ik realiseerde me eigenlijk pas hoezeer ik in slechts een week vorderingen gemaakt had toen ik bij het overstappen in de Parijse metro merkte dat ik de gesprekken om me heen, die tot die tijd vooral uit flarden bestonden, kon volgen alsof ik in de metro van Rotterdam zat.

Learnings french for work

Hi My husband and I just completed 6 weeks at CLE. We had previously spent 7 weeks at another large french intesnive school in the south of France which was very good. CLE was also equally professional. However CLE also offered the customised service of a smaller environment (10-20 students in total). All of the teachers were very experienced and very adaptable to our specific needs. The school strived for excellence, a diligent learning environment mixed with the right balance of fun. there were a wide range of people from many backgrounds and nationalities. the classes were also kept small. Isabell and the team do a great job of looking after us and I would highly recomend the school. Our teachers were Chrystel, Marlene, anne sophie and emmanuel and they were all excellent.

Mission accomplished - confidence gained

I recently attended CLE for 2 weeks in November and had a thoroughly enjoyable and productive stay in Tours. I had looked long and hard on the internet to choose a French language school and choose CLE largely on its high rating on this site. I was relieved to find out I had made the correct choice. In truth 2 weeks is a short time but being an intermediate level learner I gained what I most needed and craved i.e. the confidence to speak in French to anyone. This was achieved due to a number of things: the lessons, support and encouragement of the teachers; a low student to staff ratio; the warm welcome given to me by the host family; and a certain amount of simply not having an option but to speak in French. I should also point out that I am a 40-something professional and not easily impressed. I was therefore concerned that the school would be a bunch of 20-something students ‘discovering themselves’ in France, not interacting with the older students. I can assure you this is not the case at CLE and all the students took the lessons as seriously as I did, and we enjoyed chatting in French together at all times. Finally I must also say that the owner of the business, Isabelle Aubert, is great. She is approachable and happy to help with any problem with a smile - a rare quality indeed in the world, and especially important when you are alone in a foreign country with communication skills not quite there yet.

Eine fantastische Zeit!

Ich kann die Sprachschule CLE in Tours sehr empfehlen. Die Lehrer sind sehr engagiert und motivieren die Studenten mit immer wieder verschiedenen Lehrmethoden und Themen. Ich habe es sehr genossen, obwohl ich doch viel lernen musste ;-), dafür konnte ich das Gelernte in der netten Gastfamilie sofort anwenden. Isabelle (die Chefin) hat auch immer ein offenes Ohr für alle Studenten und bei Problemen findet sie immer eine Lösung. Wenn es die Zeit erlaubt, werde ich nochmals nach Tours fahren und einen weiteren Kurs machen. Auch die Loire-Gegend ist herrlich, Schlösser, Wein, nette Leute was will man mehr. Ich habe sehr viel gelernt und kann die Schule und die Gegend absolut empfehlen!

Fabulous!

I give my highest recommendation to CLE! There are many places to learn French. It's scary to have to make a selection from across the Atlantic just based on online research. I am delighted with my choice. Director Isabelle is committed to her students. It's amazing to me that each week she has new students who must be integrated into the existing classes and it works! The teachers are interested and helpful. Tours is a beautiful city and located in a wonderful area, easy to rent a car (I recommend the Hertz location on Rue Marcel Tribut) and great sites to see and wine to taste. Specific recommendations - take the option to live with a French family arranged by CLE. Everyone who did had great hosts and great stories to tell. But do realize that this is a school! There will be homework. It will not be easy. But you are doing this to improve your French. Speak French as much as possible! And one recommendation before you come - listen to French as much as you can. TV5Monde, RFI, Bien Dire... anything. And the final word of advice - be prepared for a revolving door of emtions: one minute you will be proud of yourself, thinking I CAN SPEAK FRENCH and the next minute you will think I DON'T HAVE A CLUE. Apparently, that is normal. You will have improved! Be patient. To Isabelle, Marlene, Ann-Sophie, and Christell, MERCI!

French Immersion Course - CLÉ, Tours

I spent a very enjoyable two weeks studying french at CLÉ in Tours. Having researched various schools in France, I selected CLÉ due to the small class sizes and the positive reviews. And I was very glad that I did! It's a fantastic school, situated in the very heart of the town centre and has a very warm and welcoming feel. The teachers are outstanding, in both their commitment to helping you improve and their organisational skills. I was placed in a class which was perfectly suited to my level and found that I learnt a lot. The time passed so quickly and I would have loved to have stayed longer. I fully recommend CLÉ to anyone who is keen to study french in France.

Life-Changing Experience!

Back in the early 90's I saw an article in the newspaper about CLE, clipped it out and put it in my FRENCH file. I had had a dream since childhood to learn French and I was keeping that dream alive. Fast forward to the end of the decade ... a worker's compensations injury had me grounded (literally) as a flight attendant. It was the time, finally, to go and learn French. Off I went to FRANCE! Lived with a super family (whom I still keep in touch with along with friends and the staff at CLE!) and it all couldn't have happened without CLE's coordination. I went back three times--the teachers are amazingly gifted, the programs and individual attention to individual student's needs, superb and the extra cultural classes offered are enlightening. I've since received my credentials to teach French, have 20 students in two after-school classes and am currently writing a book and creating videos to help adults and children learn the French basics. And all this ... because of CLE!

Mon merveilleux séjour linguistique à CLE de Tours l'été 2013

Добрый день всем Читающим! Хочу поделиться деталями своей учёбы в CLE города Тур в центральной Франции. Здесь я провела 2 замечательных недели в июле 2013, то есть совсем недавно. Результаты теста, пройденного в первый день, показали,что меня нужно поместить в группу с самым высоким уровнем: я была и рада, и не рада:)), поскольку все две недели мы с моей группой выполняли программу C1- C2. Но, несмотря наблагодаря всем трудностям, я потрясающе продвинула вперёд свой франсэ. Будучи лингвистом и профессиональным преподавателем английского с более чем 10-летним опытом, я хочу особо ПОДЧЕРКНУТЬ профессионализм всех сотрудников этого образовательного учреждения: всех учителей , что меня учили: Дани, Анн-Софи, Людивин, весь персонал поддержки, который нам помогал адаптироваться к особенностям жизни в Туре, ну и конечно мою любимую directrice: опытную, мудрую, приятную в общении управляющую школы Изабель. Я благодарна за то, в какой семье меня разместили, потому что именно там я почувствовала тепло и заботу доброжелательных французов и семейную атмосферу. Помимо очень качественного образования (занятия по коммуникативной методике, много общения, в форме игр, вопросов и обсуждений, использование мультимедийной комнаты для прослушивания репортажей и их пересказа, для выполнения интерактивных упражнений), моё проживание было окрашено в самые радужные цвета посещением Замков Долины Луары. В этот раз я успела только 6- но и это было более чем!! Их красота и впечатления, которые я увезла оттуда, просто незабываемы! Я подружилась с замечательными ребятами из Швейцарии, Австрии, США, и многих других стран. Я даю качественную оценку этой школе 4+ из 5. Имея уже предыдущий не самый приятный опыт "лингвистических заездов" в другие школы Франции, CLE я вам РЕКОМЕНДУЮ.

La meilleure expérience de ma vie

J'ai étudié à CLE cet été pendant 4 semaines, et c'était l'une des expériences les plus incroyables de ma vie. Je me suis senti accueilli tout de suite, et les enseignants sont extraordinaires. Les classes sont petites et personnelle. Je voulais vraiment parler français. Maintenant, je peux!!! This School is an excellent choice if you want to become overall better with the French Language. The teachers are well versed in teaching French as well and keeping it interesting and fun. Everyone at this school wants you to feel welcomed. I am a very shy person but I felt right at home here. The classes are small and you get a lot of individualized help. There are activities you can besides just sitting in class. You are placed in a group of your similar skill so you wont feel embarrassed by people who speak a lot better than you do. They encourage you to be better and it makes a huge difference. I plan to return in the future and wouldn't dream of going anyplace else. Thank you to everyone at CLE, you really changed my life.

Cle: mucho francés y buen francés

Mi experiencia en Clé no la puedo calificar de otra manera sino excelente. Llegué en nivel debutante y terminé en A2+, en tres meses. Las clases se desarrollan con pocos estudiantes, en mi caso un máximo de 6 estudiantes, lo que te da la oportunidad de intervenir muchas veces en cada sesión. También hay talleres extras, los martes y jueves en la tarde que se enfocan en aspectos muy específicos y tienes la oportunidad de trabajar con otras profesoras y otros compañeros. Pero lo mejor de Clé, es su calidad humana, todo el personal te hace sentir como en casa y lo más increíble, es que todo el personal te llama por tu nombre, te haya dado clases o no. Siempre se inventan una oportunidad para realizar una pequeña reunión, comer, beber y compartir, por supuesto, todo en francés. El edificio se encuentra en muy buen estado, es acogedor y está muy bien ubicado también. Clé, una experiencia de vida maravillosa!

French Language Immersion - CLE, Tours

I spent the whole of September at CLE in the French city of Tours about 2 hrs from Paris. Having not studied French since A-level (over 24 yrs ago), I found the tuition, ambience and whole experience of studying at CLE to be first class. For some it might be a little daunting to fully 'immerse' yourself in language trg by living with a host family and not speaking a word of your native tongue for a whole month, but it produces results quickly and is a fantastic way of really making progress. Enormous credit must go to the skill of the teachers and the interesting and varied topics that are used to convey the lessons, but equally, the enduring patience and help from your host family is invaluable. For the first few days I found it a real challenge and very tiring, but having been tested on the first day, I was placed in a small class with students of a similar standard. We progressed together and helped each other; there was a real camaraderie and sense of mutual empathy for each other's efforts. It was fun too – we learnt the language whilst deepening our understanding of French life, culture and of course La cuisine! What was of particular value to me and I think is a real selling point for CLE is that the tuition focused on how the French language is really used and constructed both verbally and in the written form. I do not believe you can assimilate this type of ‘hands on’ knowledge from books or websites. If you are thinking of studying in France, be brave and fully immerse yourself at CLE - you will not regret it...Bon courage!

CLE - A VERY GOOD LEARNING EXPERIENCE

I spent 6 weeks at CLE recently. I found the teachers to be very professional, supportive and cheerful. Class size was small, of between 6-8 people, and learning was kept very interactive at a pace that suited our level. The school attracted friendly students interested in the culture of Tours and the surrounding area (there is lots to see). We also mainly spoke French outside of the school, which was great for practicing what we learnt and more advanced students teaching less advanced students inadvertently. Workshops that ran 2 afternoons per week, were specifically selected on topics of interest to the students or areas we needed to practice. This included cooking classes and learning about various festivals in France. I highly recommend this school to anyone wanting to improve their study of French language and culture.

Der beste Ort um das schönste Franzsösisch zu lernern

Ich war 10 Wochen (Aug-Okt 2013) an der CLÉ. Ich war mit verschiedensten Schülern in der Klasse, was sehr interessant war. Es hat wöchentlich neue Schüler gegeben. Mir hat sehr gefallen, dass es kleine Klassen waren. Die Lehrer sind einfach super! Die Atmosphäre ist toll, sehr familiär. Jeder kennt jeden. Der Unterricht war täglich abwechslungsreich und interessant. Die Ateliers am Nachmittag haben eine gute Abwechslung zum morgentlichen Unterricht gegeben. Die CLÉ bietet zudem ein gutes Freizeitprogramm an. Der Standort der Schule ist perfekt, man ist im Zentrum und zu Fuss ist alles in Kürze erreichbar. Tours ist wunderschön! Ich komme wieder :-)

CLE-The Right environment to learn

I spend 2 wks at CLE in August 2013 and I can see why it so highly reccomended by my language school in the UK. The standard of education is of a very high quality, and the pace and level or activities equally matches students' needs. The overall atmosphere is very conducive to learning and the exterior activities & visits that the staff helped organise added to the overall immersion experience. It helps that Tours is in one of the most beautiful and historic regions of France, where the local population are freindly and welcoming. As someone who already works in France, CLE fulfilled my continuation training needs and the opportunity to conduct one-to-one tutoring was highly beneficial. I will certainly be back in 2014 to continue my French language progression.

Intensives Sprachtraining in Tours

Im August 2013 verbrachte ich zwei Wochen am CLE, um meine Französischkenntnisse aufzufrischen. Ich hatte mich für diese Schule entschieden, weil die Kursteilnehmer aus allen Teilen der Welt kommen und ein höheres Durchschnittsalter haben als an anderen Schulen und der Unterricht in kleinen Lerngruppen stattfindet. Ich habe mich an der Schule denn auch sehr wohlgefühlt. Im Unterricht waren wir nur zu fünft. Dadurch konnten persönliche Schwerpunkte gesetzt werden. Die Schulleiterin und die Lehrerinnen waren alle sehr engagiert und fröhlich. Ich kann die Schule wirklich allen empfehlen, die intensiv französisch lernen möchten.

5 STAR SCHOOL

My partner and I attended CLE for 1 month (August - September 2013) and loved every moment! The general atmosphere at the school was friendly and welcoming. All the teachers were fantastic. We found them to be very motivated and they helped us feel comfortable and confident in the classroom, always encouraging us to speak up and practice our vocab! I learnt more than i ever expected to in such a short time. My partner was especially pleased with how generous the teachers were with their time. He would often complete additional writing exercises and the teachers would happily complete the corrections and explain them to him. The school itself was very comfortable and well located, right in the heart of town near. I was very impressed with the multimedia lab and the smart board which gave the school a really modern feel and allowed the teachers to be more dynamic with their lessons. We would often use the internet to play games, do listening exercises or look up unfamiliar terms that came up during conversation. This really helped keep the classes moving and made it alot more interesting for us. The afternoon classes deserve a special mention for the diversity of topics that were offered and how well they complemented the lessons ...the cooking class, of course, was a favourite! Best of all were the students themselves - they were friendly and fun while at the same time very focused and motivated to learn. We had a fantastic experience and would recommend this school to anyone who is serious about learning French and prefers a more structured and intelligent learning environment.

My Performance Review of CLE in Tours, France

1. The administration is very engaged and eager to help each student find his/her appropriate level of instruction. The teachers are intelligent, and they come to class prepared and are pleasant to work with. 2. I liked the fact that many students were over 50. I liked the fact that there was a mix of students of all age groups and nationalities, but with an emphasis on Americans and Europeans. 3. All of the older students, and most of the younger ones too, were serious and eager to learn and were conscientious about their homework. 4. CLE placed me in a nice home with a fantastic cook who helped me find my way around Tours and who spoke French with me every night at supper. 5. Finally, the atmosphere of CLE was friendly and relaxed, and yet the teachers absolutely strove to pack as much French into the heads of the students as the students could bear, plus a little.

CLE - Highly recommend

I chose to study at CLE this summer because of the positive reviews I found on-line and becasue I read that the average age of the students was a little older. I was not disappointed! There was a very nice blend of students, both in age and in country of origin. In particluar, I appreciated: 1. The teachers were excellent: Patient, good-humored, and they corrected sufficiently without making one feel discouraged. 2. The small class size maximized opportunities for speaking and oral comprehension. 3. The morning classes (which emphasized fundamentals) were nicely complemented by the afternoon ateliers. The variety was wonderful. If you are a serious student of French, I highly recommend this program.

Excellent French Program!

I just spent 3.5 months in France in Spring / Summer 2013 as a personal and professional adventure. I attended 3 French programs in different parts of the country and although all were helpful in different ways, I have the fondest memories of CLE in Tours. The town is adorable, lively and perfectly situated in the Loire Valley but not far from Paris. I lived with a wonderful French family, chose to include private 1-on-1 sessions to work on my familiar French vocabulary and participated in all of the workshops. It is 100% French immersion while in the school and they take it seriously. The teachers were exuberant, warm and welcoming (I spent the most time with Marlene and adored her!). I loved every minute and hope to go back in the future! Merci a tous et a bientot!

CLÉ - UM JEITO GOSTOSO DE APRENDER FRANCÊS

Fiz 4 semanas de curso com meu marido e adorei. Nós estudamos francês por prazer e na Clé o prazer foi ainda maior. A equipe nos acolheu com muito carinho e atenção. As professoras foram ótimas, o método eficiente, a cidade adorável. Quando cheguei, mal conseguia identificar uma ou outra palavra quando ligava a TV e, ao sair, já compreendia bem o que ouvia. Na Clé, é o professor que se adapta ao aluno, o que permite um aproveitamento máximo. Mas isso só é possível porque as classes são pequenas. Valeu a pena! Recomendo a experiência.

Exelente escola! Tive o privilegio de estudar no CLÉ durante 4 semanas e tive pena de não poder ter ficado mais tempo. Conheci pessoas de todo o mundo, novas culturas, novas maneiras de pensar. O que mais me fascinou foi o metodo de ensino, turmas pequenas. Faz com que a proximidade entre professor e aluno seja muito proxima, bem como entre estudantes! Um ceio familiar! CLÉ - Une école exceptionnelle - Uma escola excepcional

Je viens de passer trois incroyables semaines à Tours chez CLÉ. Les professeurs sont très dévoués et compétents; les groupes dans chaque classe sont petits; tout le monde est très, très gentil et l'ambiance est très amicale et conviviale. En outre, comme je l'avais solicité, CLÉ m'a placé dans une famille merveilleuse. Tout était fantastique et j'ai beaucoup appris à un rythme incroyable! -------------- Acabo de passar 3 semanas incríveis em Tours, na escola CLÉ. Os professores são muito dedicados e competentes; o número de alunos por sala é reduzido; todos são muito, muito gentis e o ambiente é muito amistoso. Além de tudo, conforme minha solicitação, CLÉ me colocou junto a uma família maravilhosa. Tudo foi fantástico e aprendi muito num ritmo incrível!

A truly wonderful school!

C.L.E. Tours is, in a word, wonderful. I just spent a week there and cannot praise it enough. I was sorry to leave and i am planning my next visit which will surely be longer. I was placed in a b2 level class with five other students, two from Switzerland, one from Finland, one from Saudi Arabia and one from Mexico ( seven is the maximum class size). We were all ages. I am in my late sixties and while clearly the oldest did not feel at all uncomfortable. The mix of ages and perspectives together with the mix of cultures made the class conversations lively and informative. We had one teacher for each 3 hour morning session. We also could choose, from a menu of options, four afternoon workshops. All the teachers were well prepared, well organized and clearly engaged in their teaching. With a bit of trepidation ( i live alone), and the encouragement of Isabelle, the director of the school, wanting to create a full immersion experience for myself, I chose to stay with a host family, in my case a lively and charming woman who made me feel totally welcome and helped me enjoy a uniquely french immersion. Thank you so much Michelle! And thank you C.L.E.!

Excellent Language School

I spent 2 weeks at CLE in November 2012. It came highly recommended and the reason was clear from the outset. This is a friendly and extremely well run school that caters for all levels of ability. The teaching is first rate: class sizes are small, there is plenty of individual tuition and everything is tailored to your specific needs provided by inspiring and dedicated teachers. I cannot praise them enough. Whether you need to start from scratch, develop your existing French or simply gain the confidence to speak, you should definitely consider CLE. You will be looked after very well by a network of trusted families and Tours is a fabulous city with lots to do and explore.

CLE - vraisemblablement la meilleure école dans le monde!

I chose to go to CLE largely because of the recommendations I'd read on independent sites and because I needed to achieve a specified level in French for my own career progression and further studies in France. From what I'd learnt online, CLE appeared to have a long established history of delivering exactly the results I was seeking. On your first day at CLE following a short assessment, you get assigned to a morning class based on your needs and expectations, allowing you to learn at your own pace. Ultimately, the big plus I found about this school was the quality of teaching. All the teachers are without exception particularly gifted and enthusiastic about their work and have been clearly carefully selected because of these traits. They provided environments that were fun, challenging and safe places to learn and demonstrated real professionalism and enthusiasm in always being prepared to answer questions or to provide further clarification both in or outside of class time. This level of professionalism delivered real results both for myself and my peers at CLE. In the end, CLE enabled me to develop my competence in French to above the European B2 level in examinations, whilst really enjoying myself in the process - in all I recommend CLE highly!!

TRULY GREAT FRENCH LANGUAGE SCHOOL

CLE is truly a terrific language school with the ideal combination of a great working environment and some truly amazing teachers. The teachers work in a small class size and can very quickly judge your level of French and work to challenge and improve you throughout. The classes are the perfect balance between being educational and fun and the level of interaction for all my classes was just right. You are able to choose a workshop class twice a week which is great because it allows you freedom to do subjects which are relevant and interesting to you. During our course, we also had a series of local cultural visits (all in French) which were all great for learning French in different environments! The host family, chosen by CLE, were very welcoming and couldn't have done more for me. The conversations had at the dinner table reinforced my confidence in spoken French. I have been doing training courses in my work for many years now (both military and civilian) and have to say that this school has given me some of the best training I have ever had - two weeks was not long enough and I hope to be back for more in April!

Best French language school

I have recently returned from my second visit to CLE and my only regret is that my stay was too short. CLE is a first class language school in every respect. The staff is welcoming and truly interested in your objectives. The teachers are excellent, approachable, and make learning French fun!! The classes are small and tailored to match students' objectives. In addition to daily core classes, CLE offers a wide range of special interest classes twice a week. They are memorable and fun. The setting for the school is in the gorgeous town of Tours in the Loire valley. The school makes an effort to plan events for interested students and the area provides lots of adventures such as swimming at the local aquatic center which has an Olympic sized outdoor pool, bike riding along the river Cher, easy access by train to chateaux, and so much more. The host family with whom I stayed was selected by CLE and could not have been more welcoming. I spent many hours over evening meals speaking French, exchanging stories and soaking up the local culture. At CLE you will meet people of all ages and nationalities. It is simply the best!

EL MEJOR INSTITUTO DE FRANCES!

Pasé seis maravillosas semanas en CLE, tuve las mejores profesoras y un ambiente acogedor. Los grupos de clases son pequeños, lo cual permite que la clase se vuelva prácticamente personalizada, esto es muy importante, ya que los profesores están atentos a tus fallas y te ayudan a corregirlas. En CLE te sientes como en una familia, los profesores están siempre dispuestos a ayudarte y las clases se adaptan a todas las edades. También realizamos actividades muy entretenidas como lo eran los juegos que me ayudaron a aprender vocabulario y a ser un poco más rápida al hablar… las clases de cocina, los paseos y las películas… es la mezcla perfecta de todo lo que se necesita para sumergirse en el idioma y aprenderlo. Estoy muy agradecida con la escuela, con Isabelle, su directora, cuya sonrisa y buen humor nos alegraba a todos y con el resto del profesorado, que no solo cumplieron su trabajo de docentes, si no también me invitaron a disfrutar de la cultura francesa, sus costumbres, sus gustos, etc. À bientôt!

Terrific French School - Highly Recommended

I spent a lot of time searching online for a good French immersion school in France, and am so happy that I decided to choose CLE. The biggest selling point is its small class size - in my five weeks at CLE, my class size ranged from 2 students to 7 (which is the maximum class size allowed). The small group class size really makes a difference in how much you can learn. Of course, a small class size is nothing without good teachers, and I was equally impressed with the quality of teachers at CLE. In 5 weeks, I had 4 different teachers (2 for the group classes, and 2 for individual lessons), all of whom were excellent. CLE is an excellent choice for people who are serious about improving their French!

Small and intensive classes, motivated and fun teachers, beautiful school building in historic setting, wonderful hostfamily and all of this in a fantastic little town à bord de la Loire with so much to explore in the surroundings. CLE - c'est génial !

Despite my short (2-week) stay, I really benefitted from my linguistic immersion experience at CLE. The school is very well managed and the facility itself very pleasant (historic, with modern touches). Every day, students of all ages, nationalities and speaking abilitis converge, which really animates the atmosphere there. Most importantly, the quality of the teaching. My teacher was always focused and intense about discerning how best to help each of us and push us all forward. She employed a range of effective pedagogical tools (readings, grammar and vocabulary exercises, radio clips, film clips, etc) to aid in her efforts At the same time, she was always friendly and supportive, which is key to getting everyone to really participate. I also highly recommend staying with a host family. For me, the two hours or so of conversation around the table each evening really enriched the experience and helped propel forward my oral comprehension and speaking capabilities. As well, it might be worth reminding everyone that my host(ess) was French, so just take a guess per the quality of the cuisine that I enjoyed each evening !

CLE in Tours: wonderful teachers and students

My two weeks at CLE were excellent. My only complaint is that I did not stay for longer! My level of french proficiency was carefully assessed on the first day, and I was put into the appropriate class - challenging without being discouraging. I also opted for extra private lessons (3 hours per week). Both the group classes and the one-on-one were excellent. The lessons were very well prepared, the teachers friendly, experienced and effective, and my fellow students were at a very similar level, so that I learned from them as well as from the teachers. The atmosphere at CLE was great - very friendly and relaxed, and a policy of "french only"within the school was wonderful; it kept your mind in "french mode". There was a great interaction between students of all ages and nationalities. Tours is a great location - close to Paris, but not too big or too small, lovely historic centre and the local french people were very welcoming and helpful. Tours is in the Loire Valley with all its magnificent chateaux nearby. I highly recommend it to students of french of all levels.

CLE - An Excellent French Immersion Experience

I recently completed 4 weeks at CLE and I strongly recommend the school to anyone interested in strengthening their French skills (including those who are beginners). I chose CLE because of the small class size and I am very happy with my decision. The school takes great care to understand each student's individual goals and structure the lessons accordingly. This, combined with the small class size, really accelerated my learning. Another aspect of the school with which I was very pleased was the people - both the teachers and the students. The teachers are excellent and more than willing to help you, both inside and outside of class; and I found my fellow students to be like-minded: very interested in the French immersion experience and very willing to help each other, regardless of each person's comprehension level. Further, Tours is a great town in which to study. It's centrally located in France with easy access to other cities by train. The locals are welcoming and willing to help you with your French. And the scenery is beautiful, with chateaus and vineyards abound. If you're considering studying French in France, I highly recommend CLE.

Immersion experience of a lifetime!

I was looking for an opportunity to boost my French to the next level, having studied the language on only a part time basis for the past two years. My goals were to improve my listening and reading comprehension. What I appreciated the most was the placement exam and the fact that they really did a good job of identifying the right group for me, and the teachers were mindful of my personal goals. CLE matched me with a fantastic host family to ensure that I was truly immersed. They were fantastic, adding another dimension to the experience that couldn't be duplicated in the classroom. Finally, the Wednesday electives were fantastic, catering to the entire range of interests - from grammar to wine, from film & radio to cuisine, there really was something for everyone. If you're considering an immersion language course, I can't recommend CLE enough. With small class sizes, filled with motivated teachers and students, it's exactly what you're looking for.

CLE the primier school for intensive French

CLE _Tours is the primier school for intensive French. Located in Tours where the accent is said to be the most French and next to the Loire river the town and the school offer the sudent the best chance of improving their French skills. I believe that the school has prepared me tremendously for utilizing my French in Africa (where I work) and even in casual conversation. The School is designed to be low stress and personal. Teacher to student ratio rarely extends beyon 1 to 10. I have already and will recommend this school to subordinates, peers and superiors. Truely, an exceptional school. Thank You!

Незабываемые впечатления на всю жизнь!

Учу французский язык уже несколько лет (сразу говорю, девушка я не глупая, схватываю на лету). Сначала в школе, затем в институте. С грамматикой подружилась сразу, а вот словарный запас хромал на обе ноги(( Ко всему прочему была страшная боязнь разговаривать на языке. Про проблему восприятия на слух вообще промолчу (liaison делал свое дело... из-за этого соединения для меня 3 слова были как одно единое). В CLE я была в июле 2012 года (3 недели). ОГРОМНОЕ СПАСИБО всем преподователям и в частности Фариде, которая за столь небольшой срок сотворила чудо!!! У нее нетрадиционная манера преподавания, которая действует!!! Замечательный человек и преподаватель! В школе царит теплая атмосфера. Все преподаватели знают каждого студента по имени (не важно в их ты группе или нет). Изабель (директор) - необыкновенная женщина!! Светлая, жизнерадостная. CLE не похожа на другие школы, это скорее домашний пансионат). Не могу не упомянуть про принимающую семью. У меня была наимелейшая Corinne Tardif, которая заботилась обо мне, как о родной. Всем рекомендую, не пожалеете! P.S. А сколько там замков.....!!!! Берите велосипед напрокат или садитесь на поезд и наслаждайтесь!!!

Escola Excelente

Ótima escola! As turmas com no máximo 7 alunos são o grande diferencial, com professores que sabem estimular a conversação, de modo que praticamos a produção oral todos os dias. Além disso, todos os funcionários (dos professores à administração) são muito dedicados e simpáticos, tornando a experiência em geral muito agradável. Recomendo completamente!

Terrific Teachers in Tours

I studied at Clé in Tours for two weeks in June 2012. I was delighted with this language school. The courses offered were very well designed and completely met my needs. I opted for morning classes from Monday to Friday, two afternoon workshops and 3 hours of private tuition each week. This was perfect. The morning classes were small (6 students), the afternoon workshops were varied and interesting, covering subjects of interest and the private tuition was fabulous. The teachers were universally enthusiastic, encouraging and spoke french beautifully, it was clear and easy to understand making my own conversation flow more easily. I was thrilled with my progress. I would recommend this language school wholeheartedly to anyone of any age or any level of french. I went in at the B2 level but there were others at all levels, from beginners. I still managed time to see some of the Chateaux of the Loire which were easy to get to from Tours. All of the staff at Cle were helpful and friendly. This was a most enjoyable experience all round and one that I will probably repeat.

un séjour fantastique

j'ai étudié à Clé pour seulement une semaine malheureusement, mais c'était une expérience extraordinaire. Les profs sont tous serviables, aimables et enthousiastiques ce qui fournit une ambiance travailleuse mais aussi heureuse. je me suis très bien amusée à Clé - j’ai appris beaucoup et ma confiance en parlant français a tellement amélioré: au lycée, mon prof et la classe étaient étonnées de mon progrès dans la langue: j’ai parlé à la classe sans difficulté de mon séjour pour une demie-heure. C’est un miracle! Je voudrais bien revenir l’année prochaine et je vous conseillerai d'y aller.

CLE - Tours

Я училась в школе CLE в течении трех недель. Моя проблема была слышать и говорить. Приехала в школу, чтобы погрузиться в языковую среду. Очень переживала перед отъездом. как я буду понимать? Жила я во французской семье из 4 человек. В первый день был тест для определения моих знаний и зачисления в группу. Довольно сложный. Но как потом оказалось атмосфера в школе замечательная. Все изучают французский язык и понимаю как это сложно, особенно новичкам. Каждый кто уже отучился хотя бы неделю, помогает вновь прибывшим адаптироваться в школе (не говоря уже о старых учениках). Все помнят, что они тоже когда то были новичками. Подходят на переменах, знакомятся и общаются только на французском. С начало тяжело, а потом привыкаешь и через неделю так же знакомишься с новичками. Учителя превосходные, отлично подобран учительский коллектив. Уделяют внимание каждому, не забывая о "скучающих". Всегда интересуются все ли понятно и объясняют любым доступным способом (жесты, приводят ситуации, пишут, рисуют, используют картинки) и все только на французском, прекрасная методика. В школе сделано все для изучения языка. Если у Вас есть действительно желание изучить язык, то занятия в школе CLE только укрепят эти желания. Мне очень повезло с семьей в которой я жила. Они всегда интересовались моими занятиями и делали все, что бы я больше говорила по-французски. Организовывала различные мероприятия на выходные дни, знакомили с новыми людьми все с той же целью. За время учебы я приобрела новых друзей, с которыми общаюсь и по сей день. У меня есть необходимость получить более высокий сертификат и мой выбор конечно же будет школа CLE. Всем Удачи!!!!!

Amazing French School!

I had the opportunity to attend CLE for a period of 4 months and, I must say, it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Not only are the classes engaging and intellectually stimulating, the school makes a real effort to organize a number of extra-curricular events around the Tours area. In a classroom of 7 (or less) persons, each student has the opportunity to learn French in a friendly and constructive environment. All of the professors are extremely helpful and want to ensure that each student obtains the highest level of French desired. Each day of instruction involves a number of exercises that focuses on at least one of the four different areas of language learning (i.e. Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking.) Not only are these exercises extremely effective, they are also really fun and mimic real-life situations that students will most-likely find themselves in. Besides the coursework itself, you can find a diverse mixture of students from all over the world at CLE. The school embraces this multicultural environment which creates interesting cultural discussions (in french, of course) between the students. Overall, I cannot begin to recommend CLE enough. Not only is Tours the home of the "purest" French, it is also the home of the best French language school in France!

Französisch lernen-auf nach Tours

Ich habe im April 12 einen Sprachaufenthalt in der Sprachschule Clé in Tours gemacht und kann diese Schule allen - ob jung oder alt- wirklich sehr empfehlen. Die Schule wählt ihre Gastfamilien sehr sorgfältig aus und man fühlt sich dort sehr gut aufgenommen und integriert; eine sehr schöne Erfahrung und gleichzeitig eine Erweiterung des persönlichen Horizonts, da man viel vom Alltag einer französischen Familie mitkriegt. Die Schule selber ist klein und sehr familiär. Man findet sie im Zentrum von Tours in einem geschmackvoll renovierten Altstadtgebàude. In kurzer Zeit kennt man alle andern Sprachschüler und die Lehrerinnen. Diese sind sehr engagiert, motiviert, aufgestellt und gut vorbereitet. Ganz besonders gut haben mir die Ateliers gefallen, die 2mal wöchentlich jeweils nachmittags stattinden. Man schreibt sich dort jeweils für ein Thema ein (Kultur, Spiele, Interviews auf der Strasse, Hörverständnis usw) und besucht dann dieses Atelier bei der Lehrperson, die es anbietet. So ergeben sich immer neue Gruppenzusammensetzungen und man hat die Gelegenheit, versch. Lehrpersonen zu erleben. Tours selber ist eine hübsche Stadt mit vielen kulturellen Angeboten. Also, auf nach Tours!! Allez-y!

Ich habe diesen Frühling während 4 Wochen die Sprachschule CLE besucht. In dieser kleinen Schule,wo es keinen Empfangsdesk gibt und bald alle einander kennen, habe ich mich äusserst wohl gefühlt. Ich stimme in den Chor von Eunice, Aurelia und Katharina ein. Mehr kann ich nicht mehr sagen. Ausser eines: Wählt die Gastfamilie als Unterkunft! Ihr seid bestens aufgehoben und kurzweilige Abende mit viel Französisch sind garantiert!

An enjoyable learning experience

I spent 4 weeks in CLÉ for the month of April in 2012. I will never forget this wonderful learning journey. The programme arranged by the school was well paced and enriching. I feel that I have benefitted greatly from the course as well as enjoyed myself thoroughly during my stay. The teachers are proficient and dedicated with a genuine interest in the learning of each student. As the class size was small, there was a lot of chance to speak and be corrected by the teachers. What I like best is the international mix of adult students who are here to learn French “pour le plaisir”. I also like the workshop that takes place on two afternoons in a week. Students get to choose a wide selection of activities ranging from how to improve French with the French radio RFI and the French TV channel TV5 Monde to planning a weekend excursion on Bordeaux. These activities help to extend the students scope of learning beyond the texts. A range of activities and free visits to local well known sites were also arranged for the students. I liked the cheese appreciation course as well as the free visit to l'Hôtel de Ville. The director of the school, Isabelle, and the staff of the school were ever ready to offer advice and guidance. For example, when I needed reference for my “exposée” on a particular region of France, Isabelle was quick to direct me to the right source in the library. But what I appreciate most is the wonderful host that I stayed with for these 4 weeks. Madam Marie-France Michelesi was a fine retired lady who welcomed me like a family member. We have many interests in common, which allowed us to share a lot during our stay together. CLÉ has certainly taken my criteria seriously and found me an excellent match. I feel that I have improved my French in a natural environment and I will recommend CLÉ to anyone who is keen to learn or polish his French. Eunice TeoLeiSoo, Singapore

Clé in Tours: Super Sprachschule!

Ich habe im Januar 2012 an der Sprachschule Clé in Tours einen vierwöchigen Intensiv-Sprachkurs besucht und bin von dieser Sprachschule, ihrem Konzept und ihrer Lage sehr begeistert! Die Schule liegt mitten in der herzigen Altstadt von Tours in einem alten, aber sehr geschmackvoll renovierten Haus voller Charme und Charakter. Die Schule verfügt über eine gute Infastruktur mit PC's, einer grossen Bibliothek und einem Medienraum um Filme anzuschauen und/oder auszuleihen. Die Lehrer sind motiviert, hilfsbereit, gut vorbereitet und auch über die Unterrichtszeit hinaus sehr engagiert. Wochenziele und persönliche Förderung sind eine Selbstverständlichkeit. Auch Hausaufgaben sind an der Tagesordnung. Ein Sprachkurs in Tours lässt sich optimal mit einem Kulturtripp ins wunderschöne Loiretal mit seinen historischen und romantischen Schlössern kombinieren. Aber auch die ville d'amour ist mit dem TGV in einer guten Stunde bequem zu erreichen. Ich kann einen Sprachaufenthalt an der Sprachschule Clé in Tours wirklich sehr empfehlen! Es ist ein Gesamtpaket an Bildung, Kultur und savoir vivre :o)

CLE in Tours ist eine gute Adresse

Ich habe in März-April 2012 2 Wochen einen Kurs der CLÉ auf dem Niveau B2+ besucht und war sehr zufrieden. Diese Schule hat folgende Vorteile gegenüber anderen Sprachschulen, die ich in den letzten 2 Jahren besucht habe:  Kleine Lerngruppen (max. 7), in denen sich die Teilnehmer aus der ganzen Welt finden, nicht nur aus Europa, sondern auch aus Amerika, Asien sowie junge Stipendiaten aus den arabischen Ländern.  Engagierte Lehrer. Besonders will ich Dany hervorheben, die den Unterricht sehr individuell auf unsere Bedürfnisse angepasst hat.  Abwechslungsreiche Lernmethoden. Wir haben für den Alltag sowie für berufliche Situationen relevante Dialoge in Rollenspielen geübt, wir haben Interviews mit Passanten auf der Straße durchgeführt, Videos gemeinsam angeschaut und daneben uns auch natürlich mit Grammatik beschäftigt und schriftliche Aufsätze geschrieben. Es war nie langweilig und hat uns voll gefordert.  Sehr nette, familiäre Atmosphäre. Das liegt einmal an den sehr schönen, ganz modernen Unterrichtsräumen in einem Altbau, zum anderen an der Freundlichkeit und Offenheit der Schulleitung und der Lehrer.  Ideale Lage. Die Schule liegt mitten im Alten Tours, wenige Schritte von Restaurants, Kneipen, Geschäften und Sehenswürdigkeiten.  Tours. Die Stadt ist sehr schön, nicht zu groß, bietet dennoch viel Kultur in der Stadt und natürlich die herrliche Umgebung mit den Schlössern der Loire.

CLE excelente escuela, muy recomendable :D

Estuve en CLE 2 meses y fue una experiencia increíble. La atención y calidad de profesores es inmejorable, me sentí en casa. El equipo dirigido por Isabelle es fenomenal. Las profesoras Anne-Sophie, Fharida, Emmanuel, Danny, Emmanuel y Ludivine estupendas. La relación calidad precio es muy buena, en el tiempo que estuve ahí me prepararon y logré sacar la certificación DELF B2 con buena nota. La atención y apoyo para encontrar alojamiento y para hacer de la estancia agradable también fue muy buena. Se nota que buscan la calidad en todos los detalles. La ubicación es excelente, en pleno centro histórico y cerca de todo. Espero en los próximos meses regresar.

Excellent Experience

I had an absolutely fantastic experience studying here! I took private classes with Anne- Sophie, and I can honestly say that she is the best French teacher I have ever had. She really tailored the class around my individual needs and created a very engaging and enriching experience. I only studied there for two weeks, but have every intention of returning for a longer period. I'd like to study for the DALF, so I would most likely take a combination of group and private classes, as their group classes are quite small. I really can't recommend this school enough. Isabelle really seems to go out of her way to help students manage the details of their lives--apartments, visas etc. All of the teachers seem really kind and capable, but if you can study with Sophie you can't go wrong!

A great experience

I am a recently retired teacher, and I would like to take this chance to really encourage those of you who are approaching or are in this phase of your life to take a risk, go to a new place, and learn a new language. And if you decide to do this, I can't recommend any other place than CLE in Tours. What a great adventure I had this past September! CLE is an excellent school no matter whether you are just starting out in French, or if you have already studied it at home. I was pleased that their test on the first day put me into just the right group to improve my French without impossible challenges. the instructors spoke only in French, but always found a way to explain things if you didn't understand. ( For me, that was often). I stayed with a wonderful family who made me feel at home, and added to my immersion experience by only speaking French and taking me and another student to various sites in the area. Oh, did I rave yet about the sites? Tours and the Loire Valley are lovely; I rented a bicycle for my 3 week stay there, and enjoyed the beautiful cycling paths along the river. I also was really thrilled with the efforts that the other students made to communicate only in French; even when there was another student in my class from the same city as me in Canada, we only spoke in French. Over the 3 weeks my confidence grew, and I learned to relax and not worry about making mistakes. I started to learn French the way a child does, with an attitude of fun. Learning French in Tours at CLE was a very rewarding experience, that left me saying, " Yahoo! I may be retired from teaching, but I'm sure not retired from life!" I really encourage you to treat yourself, and spend at least a few weeks at CLE in Tours. You'll never regret it; I know I sure don't.

The best language school I've attended ..

I have been to CLE twice this year, and can thoroughly recommend it. The classes are small (there were no more than 6 in any of my classes), the teachers are enthusiastic and very helpful, the lessons are well-structured, the class materials are excellent. There are a lot of additional study materials, and information about the area, with advice on trips you can make etc. Unfortunately (due to family commitments) I was only able to stay for a week each time; two weeks (or longer!) would allow time to make use of the library and explore Tours and the Loire châteaux. I stayed in the home of a very friendly woman, and on each of my visits was able to immerse myself in the French language, speaking hardly any English. I am looking forward to my next visit.

NO WHERE BETTER THAN CLE IN TOURS

It was a lovely day in August. Seven young and not-so-young men and women decided to go out for lunch together. We found a café with a large table and ordered lunch. Then I realized that no two people at our table were from the same country: the United States, Canada, England, Wales, Switzerland, Holland and Belorussia were all represented. But we all spoke the same language. And what was that? French! Some of us spoke it well, most not so well. We all made mistakes. But no matter. We communicated in our one shared language….our lingua franca…French. And we all loved every minute of it. In love with France, in love with the language. Such was our life as students of the CLÉ (Centre Linguistique Pour Étrangers) in Tours in the Loire Valley. Tourists know the Loire Valley as The Chateau Country. Language students know it as the place in France where the purest French is spoken. Most of us were housed with local French families, as arranged for us by CLÉ. We had breakfast and dinner provided by our “famille d’accueil”. I was really lucky in my lodgings. It was the household of Françoise, a retired lady who had been a college professor of English. In my two weeks with her, I never heard her speak a word of English although obviously she knew it well. She was totally committed to my total immersion experience, to providing me with good French cooking twice a day, to providing good French conversation, to driving me from her home in the countryside to school every morning and home every afternoon. Most students were housed with families in the town, but Francoise lives in the country outside of town, and I soon found I preferred her home with its lovely garden, singing birds, and country quiet. Françoise, guided me around Tours, a small city that I grew to love. After dinner, and after I had completed “mes devoirs” for the next day, sometimes Françoise, and I watched le télé together. She chose programs of historic import, designed to broaden my experience. She also escorted another resident student and me to some wine caves of the wonderful Vouvray white wines nearby. The school (under the direction of Hervé and Isabelle Aubert) was constantly challenging. During our first morning, we were given a 2 hour exam designed to evaluate our level of French. I must confess it was simply the toughest exam I have ever taken! The following morning, we were given our class assignments. Within the first hour I was convinced a terrible mistake had been made. Clearly I was in the wrong class! There was no way I could keep up the pace or maintain the level of comprehension of my classmates. Happily I survived the challenge and by the end of my two weeks there, I knew that my French had definitely improved. Classes at CLÉ are small with a class size limit of 7 students. The first week, there were 6 of us in my class: 3 Americans, an Englishman who lived in Prague, a German-speaking Swiss and a young woman from Saudi Arabia. This last was enrolled at CLÉ for a year, after which she was going on to a Paris University for her graduate degree. So much for the “repressed” Middle Eastern woman! The second week there were 4 in my class. And our excellent teacher, (our “Prof”) Melanie, made sure that we were all participating fully. Our curriculum was ever varied and challenging. There were four skills we were expected to address (and perhaps one day master)…oral comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. We had a healthy dose of grammar and vocabulary building along the way. Not only did we study the passé simple, we were asked to write stories actually using the tense (which I had so assiduously avoided for many years.) Through it all I remained convinced that I was the class dunce, and that I would never get much better. But I did get better. By the end of 2 weeks, I was much more comfortable in the language. I had no fear of going off on my own around the town and to nearby Amboise. I still made lots of mistakes, (and still do) but I was able to understand and make myself understood at a new level. At no time did anyone try to converse with me in English. In fact, I was asked directions in French on three separate occasions. When the day came to leave, I was sincerely sorry that I had booked for a mere two weeks. I tried to devise a way to stay longer, to learn more, to experience more. (Some students enroll for several weeks, even months). Were it not for medical necessity (and the sure knowledge that my money would run out sooner rather than later) I might be there still. I certainly have every intention of returning. Part of my heart resides in the Loire Valley, one of the loveliest and friendliest regions of France. France…and doubtless always will. I recommend total immersion in France for anyone wanting to speak better French. And no where is better than CLÉ in Tours!

dobrá zkušenost!

Tours je výhodné místo pro studium francouzštiny a poznávání Francie a škola CLE připravuje pro studenty veškerý možný servis, např. kromě knih a studijních materiálů jsou v knihovně školy různé materiály (cyklomapy, prospekty), které pomůžou využít volný čas k poznávání nádherného okolí - stačí zmínit nádherné zámky na Loiře, kterých jsou desítky a k mnoha z nich lze dojet na kole. Přijetí na škole bylo velmi vstřícné, skupiny jsou malé a studenti vhodně rozřazeni podle své pokročilosti. Školu můžu doporučit.

une expérience linguistique merveilleuse

je suis un étudiant des émirats arabes unis , j'apprends le français pour suivre des cours magistraux a la Sorbonne, donc , grâce a clé ( institut de langue a Tours ) j'ai réussi le l'examen de DALF C1 Cet institut est excellent pour plusieurs raisons : 1- l'administration: Madame et Monsieur Aubert sont très professionnels , ils s'occupent des étudiants du premier jours quand ils arrivent avec leurs valises en passant par les famille d'accueil et jusqu'au jour de départ quenq ils prennent le taxi.En plus ils prennent les requêtes des étudiant en pleine considération. Bref pour tous les apprenants et moi personnellement Madame et Monsieur Aubert étaient comme les parents au point qu'ils nous accompagnent dans les excusions organisee par l'ecole également . 2-l'École: d'une part , les professeurs sont très compétents ils nous enseignent d'une façon très agréable et efficace a la foi , ils connaissent bien la culture française ( habitude, gastronomie , histoire , polit que ....etc ).D'autre part l'atmosphère familiale de l'École est agréable , dans chaque classe il y a au moyen 5 étudiants ou chaque étudiant profite bien de sa participation dans ce bain linguistique . En outre tous le monde se connaît donc , l'amitié entre les apprenants et les professeurs et patente 3- la ville : Tours est une ville parfaite pour apprendre le francais car, d'un cote les gens y parlent sans accent ( le francais est pur ). D'autre cote c'est une ville de culture qui s'appelle le jardin de France grâce a sa beauté naturelle. On y trouve de magnifiques châteaux a visiter ( donc les rois avaient raison de choisir cette ville ) qui est entouree par la Loire et le cher ( deux fleuves de la région ) Finalement, je voudrais dire que j'ai de la chance d'être étudiant dans cette école car j'ai atteint mon but académique , professionnel vis-à-vis mon niveau linguistique, et en plus c'etait avec plaisir :)

Non solo formaggio e vino.

Questa estate (2011) ho deciso di seguire un corso di lingua francese alla scuola CLE e ne sono rimasta piuttosto soddisfatta. L'edificio è attrezzato con numerose aule dove si svolgono le lezioni in classi di massimo 7 persone. C'è anche la possibilità di prendere in prestito dei dvd dalla videoteca e dei libri dalla biblioteca. I più motivati possono cimentarsi nei giochi di società messi a disposizione (con tabù si possono passare delle ore!). Ho apprezzato molto il fatto che si potessero trovare diverse riviste interessanti da consultare (Courrier international) all'entrata della scuola. Gli insegnanti sono molto disponibili e le lezioni interessanti. C'è da dire, però, che molto dipende dalle persone che compongono la classe e dall'insegnante stesso. Fortunatamente, la mia classe era piuttosto dinamica e i dibattiti si rivelavano sempre molto accesi! La famiglia che mi ha accolta è molto disponibile e fin dal primo giorno si è sempre accertata che tutto andasse bene. La città di Tours è perfetta per un soggiorno studio perché non è troppo dispersiva ma neanche troppo piccola. Ci sono numerose cose da fare e vedere e, in estate, lungo la Loira allestiscono un bar all'aperto chiamato la Guinguette dove l'atmosfera è molto allegra (forse grazie al gustosissimo rosé). Nei dintorni di Tours, le cose da fare non mancano di certo. Con il gruppo di amici incontrati a scuola, abbiamo organizzato diverse "gite fuori porta" di un giorno usando il treno o la bicicletta. Tutto facilmente raggiungibile ed utilizzabile...e non troppo costoso!

Я провёл в школе CLE полтора месяца и невероятно доволен качеством обучения и проведённого времени в городе Тур. Городок небольшой и очень доброжелательный, как раз то что нужно, чтобы изучать французский язык. На поездах можно доехать до всех замков Луары, а можно ещё и на океан в город Ля Рошель, который я ОЧЕНЬ рекомендую. В школе CLE замечательные преподаватели и уроки проходят очень весело и интересно. Часто уроки проходят в игровой форме и в процессе возникают многочисленные диалоги на французском. Жить я советую в семье. Для вас это отличный шанс посмотреть как живут настоящие французские семьи и наслаждаться французской домашней кухней каждый день. В семьях Вам предоставляется уникальная возможность общения с французами. Цените каждый разговор с самого Вашего приезда в Тур. Алексей

3 fantastic weeks

I've just spent 3 fantastic weeks with CLE in Tours, France. In those 3 weeks I have learned so much and gained much confidence when speaking french. My teacher was great using many different activities to improve vocabulary etc. During my stay at Tours I stayed with a host family who was so nice and kind helping me in every way they could to make most out of my stay. In the surrondings of the school there are plenty of sights to enjoy and with trains and buses it is easy to get around. I will recommend everyone who wish to learn french to visit CLE!

Il mio soggiorno a CLE - Tours

Il mio soggiorno a Tours è durato 4 settimane ed è stato indimenticabile ! è difficile esprimere a parole e in poche righe la mia esperienza e le emozioni di questo mese, ma vale la pena provarci. Sono stata molto fortunata da ogni punto di vista. La mia famiglia era gentilissima e divertente : la sera c’era sempre l’occasione di parlare insieme, ho conosciuto qualche parente della famiglia e anche qualche amico/a e spesso siamo usciti insieme, ed è stato stupendo non solo perchè ho avuto la possibilità di ascoltare modi diversi di parlare, ma soprattutto perchè è nata una bella amicizia con tutte le persone che ho incontrato e spero che durerà !! Insomma, in famiglia mi sentivo come a casa ! Nella mia stessa casa c’era anche una studentessa svizzera e quindi tutte e due ne abbiamo approfittato per parlare solo in francese (raramente in inglese). Ci siamo divertite molto e nello stesso tempo il nostro livello di lingua è migliorato perchè io, la mia famiglia francese e i miei amici di CLE ci siamo sforzati di parlare solo in francese ! e credo che studiare una lingua straniera facendo delle attività piacevoli renda più semplice l’apprendimento..il nostro livello migliora senza che ce ne accorgiamo perchè in effetti siamo immersi nella cultura e nella lingua francesi e quindi per forza di cose facciamo dei progressi ! Una volta, per esempio, io e i miei amici di CLE abbiamo passato quasi tutto il weekend a giocare a Taboo in francese ed è stato stupendo e divertente !! Posso dire di aver davvero scelto bene quando ho deciso di prenotare in questa scuola il mio soggiorno in Francia e ho potuto constatare che tutti i commenti positivi che avevo letto in internet erano più che veritieri ! Nella mia classe eravamo al massimo 7 studenti e la mia prof era molto professionale, preparata e disponibile ! Ci ha aiutati molto nella preparazione per il DALF C1 ed era sempre pronta a rispondere ai nostri dubbi e incertezze di qualsiasi argomento. Se dovessi dare dei consigli ai futuri studenti di CLE direi che la cosa fondamentale è essere motivati e sfruttare al massimo ogni occasione per parlare francese, non si deve aver paura di sbagliare perchè così non si migliora, bisogna buttarsi ! è qui che abbiamo l’opportunità di chiarire i dubbi di grammatica o di pronuncia perchè ci sono insegnanti madrelingua e quindi perchè non approfittarne ? E se anche siete in gruppo con altri italiani ce la si può fare benissimo a parlare solo francese.. io ne sono un esempio =) basta volerlo ! La motivazione è importante e, in generale, gli studenti di CLE, sono loro che scelgono di studiare il francese in Francia e non sono obbligati da nessuno..e credo che questo faccia la differenza ! Studiare a Tours è un’ottima scelta perchè si parla il miglior francese (senza accento regionale) e perchè si può visitare la città e la valle della Loira con i suoi castelli da sogno. Si possono raggiungere anche in bici..non serve essere super sportivi perchè tutta la regione è pianeggiante e soprattutto il paesaggio lungo la Loira è fantastico !! Inoltre, Parigi è soltanto a 1 ora di distanza in TGV ed è facile anche raggiungere una località marittima grazie alla stazione dei treni di Tours. Ma se anche decideste di restare in città c’è sempre qualcosa da fare ! Una volta ho visitato una cantina dove ho fatto la degustazione di vini (davvero interessante e il vino..da provare !) e più tardi CLE ha organizzato una degustazione di formaggi della regione : un’altra occasione per scoprire i sapori e i piatti tipici del territorio ! Insomma, il mio soggiorno è stato meraviglioso ! e ho già deciso che ci tornerò perchè mi sono innamorata del francese, di Tours e della Touraine e di tutti gli amici che mi sono fatta in questo mese ! Vor einigen Jahren habe ich mich einer Bekannten angeschlossen und begonnen, einen französischen Konversationskurs zu besuchen. Seine Anforderungen waren für mich sehr hoch. Mangels Praxis war nicht viel von meinen Französischkenntnissen übrig geblieben. Obwohl ich mich etwas mit Grammatik beschäftigt hatte, fehlte mir eine systematische Basis. Dieses Jahr dachte ich mir, dass ich fähig sei, alleine in Frankreich zurechtzukommen. Meine Frage nach einem Gebiet mit guter französischer Aussprache beantwortend empfahl unsere Französischlehrerin mir die Region an der Loire ungefähr zwischen Tours und Orléans. Eines Tages hatte ich die Idee, dort nicht nur die Zeit zu verbringen, sondern eine Sprachschule zu besuchen. Ich fand im Internet unter anderen CLE. Es hat mir am besten gefallen. Danach ging alles wie am Schnürchen. Nachdem ich mich eingetragen hatte, erhielt ich rasch die Aufnahmebestätigung mit umfangreichen Informationen über CLE, die Stadt Tours und seiner Umgebung, die günstigsten Ankunftsmöglichkeiten sowie eine Zuweisung einer den von mir gewählten Kriterien völlig entsprechenden Unterkunft. Am ersten Vormittag des Kurses hatten wir eine Prüfung zur Ermittlung unserer Kenntnisse. Meine Zuweisung zu einer Gruppe war sofort ideal. Einige wenige Teilnehmer sind im Laufe der ersten Tage in ihren Kenntnissen besser entsprechende Gruppen umgesetzt worden. Die Klassen und die Bibliothek sind freundlich, nur das Direktionsbüro befindet sich im schlechtesten Zimmer des Hauses. Auch diese Tatsache besagt, dass die Studenten bei CLE im Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit sind. An den Vormittagen beteiligte man sich in der Gruppe, der man zugeteilt worden war. An den zwei Nachmittagen einer Woche mit Unterricht hatte man die freie Wahl von Lehrveranstaltungen. Das, was ich gewählt hatte, war immer interessant und hat mir viel gegeben. Das auf der Internetseite von CLE angekündigte Angebot an pädagogischen Materialien, Büchern etc. hat sich völlig bestätigt. Die Lehrer sind verständnisvoll, hilfsbereit und sehr kompetent, Ausländer auszubilden. In unserer Gruppe waren sechs Studenten aus verschiedenen Ländern. Die Aufgaben wurden reihum gestellt. Manchmal fehlten Studenten. Ein Mal hatte ich einen Vormittagskurs ganz für mich alleine. Es war auch interessant, Menschen verschiedener Länder von Kanada bis Australien kennen zu lernen und mit ihnen etwas gemeinsam zu unternehmen. Auch das wurde von CLE gefördert. Während der zwei Wochen im CLE habe ich mich wie in einem Schlaraffenland der französische Sprache gefühlt. Horst Aden (79), Deutschland Il y a quelques années, j'ai suivi une connaissance et j'ai commencé à suivre un cours de conversation française. Son niveau était beaucoup trop haut pour moi. A défaut de pratique, peu était resté de mes connaissances en français. Bien que je m'occupasse un peu de grammaire, il me manquait une base systématique. Cette année, je pensais pouvoir me débrouiller seul en France. A ma question concernant une région avec une bonne prononciation française notre professeur de français a recommandé la vallée de la Loire entre environ Tours et Orléans. Un jour, j'ai eu l'idée de ne pas passer seulement du temps là-bas, mais aussi de fréquenter une école de langue. J’ai trouvé CLE sur Internet. C’est l’école que j’ai préférée. Ensuite, tout a marché comme sur des roulettes. Après m’être inscrit, j’ai reçu promptement la confirmation d'inscription avec des informations considérables sur CLE, la ville de Tours et ses environs, des conseils pour le voyage, ainsi que les coordonnées d'un logement correspondant complètement aux critères que j’avais choisis. La première matinée du cours, nous avions un examen pour l'évaluation de nos connaissances. Mon placement dans un groupe était tout de suite idéal. Peu de participants ont été déplacés au cours des premiers jours dans des groupes qui correspondaient mieux à leurs connaissances. Toutes les classes et la bibliothèque sont accueillantes, seulement le bureau des directeurs se situe dans la plus mauvaise pièce de la maison. Ce fait témoigne aussi que les étudiants sont au centre de l'attention. Le matin, on participait aux cours du groupe dans lequel auquel on avait été placé. Les deux après-midi de la semaine, on avait le choix. Ce que j'avais choisi, c'était toujours intéressant et m'a beaucoup apporté. L'offre des matériels pédagogiques, livres etc. dans les pages du site de CLE s'est complètement confirmée. Les enseignantes sont compréhensives, serviables et très compétentes pour former des étrangers. Six étudiants de différents pays étaient dans notre groupe. Les tâches étaient attribuées à tour de rôle. Parfois quelques étudiants étaient absents. Une fois j'ai eu un cours tout seul. C'était intéressant aussi de faire la connaissance de gens de différents pays du Canada jusqu'à l’Australie et de faire des activités un peu ensemble. Cela aussi était encouragé par CLE. À CLE pendant les deux semaines je me suis senti comme dans un pays de cocagne de la langue française. Horst Aden (79), Allemagne

J'ai étudié à CLE pour 8 mois me préparant pour l'université, c’était magnifique. J'aime beaucoup CLE : les professeurs sont bien, les classes sont petites, il y a max. de 7 étudiants dans chaque classe, ça permet au prof. de bien se concentrer sur chaque étudiant et les cours sont d’un bon niveau et bien organisés. J'aimerais bien retourner chez Clé et je vous recommande cette école si vous voulez apprendre le français et bien le parler. Merci beaucoup à CLE et bonne chance à tous

I just finished two weeks at CLE. It was a great experience, better than I have had in the past at other schools. My host family was amazing!!! Great food, very clean, and super friendly and generous. I highly recommend CLE to people wanting to learn French. The school is small, the professors knowledgeable, and the city of Tours has a lot to discover.

Ich kann CLE sehr empfehlen. Ich habe vier Wochen Intensiv Sprachkurs besucht. Ich bin ueber 50 Jahre alt und schaetzte sehr die kleinen Klassen. Waehrend der Lektionen kommt jeder Studentjede Studentin ausreichend zum Zuge. Es hat Studenten verschiedener Alter. Die Lehrpersonen sind sehr motiviert und bieten einen abwechslungsreichen, intensiven, effizienten Unterricht. In den Nachmittagsateliers koennen Kurse ausgewaehlt werden. Die Studenten haben viel Gelegenheit zu sprechen. In der Freizeit werden Aktivitaeten angeboten. Ich habe die historische Fuehrung durch Tours und den Besuch des ZeitungsverlagsTV Studio sehr geschaetzt. In der Schule hat es StudentInnen verschiedenster Nationen: Golfstaaten, USA, Russland, GB, Schweiz, Spanien, Finnland... Die Atmosphaere in der Schule ist freundlich; die Zeiten werden strikt eingehalten. Fuer mich war der Besuch von CLE eine grosse Bereicherung. Susanne Ch.

I spent 3 and a half weeks at CLE in May 2011. I was learning French in preparation for a new job, so took individual classes. My experience there was excellent. The teachers were engaging and worked hard to tailor their lessons to me. We worked with a range of media (books, comics, films etc) and I learnt a huge amount about French culture at the same time as learning the language. CLE placed me with an excellent host family who made a real effort to integrate me into their family life. Tours is a beautiful town and CLE put on a number of weekend activities to ensure that students can make the most of their time there. I've now started my new job, and thanks to CLE I've been confidently using my French!

I am very happy with my experience at CLE. This was my second time at a French Language School, and I especially found that the small class sizes enriched the experience and provided each student with more opportunity to speak in class. In addition, everyone was extremely friendly, and I enjoyed the city of Tours.

I spent 3 weeks at CLE and i couldn't have been more happier with my choice! The assessment test at the beginning of my stay was a perfect way to identify where i should be placed according to my french knowledge. The classes were kept very small which allowed the teachers to properly help each student progress in the way they need to. Each class focuses evenly on all aspects of learning a new language. I learned a lot during my 3 weeks, and i would go back to CLE in a heart beat! Also, dont be afraid to ask questions! Everyone was helpful no matter what kind of question i had, whether it be about homework or a place i wanted to visit; everyone took their time to help!

I spent 2 weeks at the CLE improving my language skills. I couldn't recommend this school more. The test at the beginning is a brilliant tool for assessing your level and the classes are no more than 7 people (a rule which is strictly adhered to) meaning constant interaction with the teacher. A lot of attention is paid to pronunciation and there is lots of oral practice during the class, which is very conducive to improving your speaking! I would also highly recommend having some private tuition in the afternoon - you can direct what you want the focus of the classes to be and it's definitely enhances the work you do in the group classes. Herve and Isabelle are brilliant as well - they are on hand all hours of the day to deal with your questions/problems. Overall a very rewarding experience.

I spent 2 weeks in CLE-I thoroughly recommend this school. It is small enough to get to know most of the pupils and staff in quite a short time and the atmosphere was very friendly. The organisation is flexible and every effort is made to adjust the timetable and teaching to your needs. The teaching was interesting, very helpful and of excellent quality. The school is well placed in the centre of the city and the school arranged for me to stay with a good family. Altogether v. highly recommended D Mc G

Tours（トゥール）は地域アクセントのない「最も美しいフランス語」であると聞き、また、初めてフランスで滞在するのにちょうどよいサイズだと思い、この町を選びました。お城の点在するロワール川流域にあるきれいな街です。 CLE（クレ）を選んだのは、たまたま自分のスケジュールに合っていたからですが、運が良かったと思います。学校の規模は大きくありませんが、アットホームな雰囲気で、一人一人丁寧に対応してくれます。私自身、学校以外のことでも気兼ねなく相談していました。学校の立地は飲食店街のそばで、またメインストリートから近く便利です。授業は、午前は文法を中心に、午後は選択で、自分の必要に応じたものを受けることができます。クラスは少人数で、教師は熱心で根気強く、かつ親しみやすい人ばかりでした。受講したのは2週間だけでしたが、キーを押さえた授業を通して、発音も活用も初めて体系立てて理解できました。

I completed a 3 week course at CLE as part of a 9 month french language course based in the UK. I was placed in a class with a level of B1+/B2 which had a maximum of 3 students including me. My stay at CLE and with a french family, which CLE organised, meant that I could concentrate on improving my french, whilst immensing myself in all the important cultural and social aspects. The lessons had a ideal with a suitable blend of theory and practical exercises, and I certainly found the libraries useful to develop my knowledge outside of classes. Most importantly, the school had an enthusiastic, personal touch which encouraged all students to improve as much as possible. In this respect I preferred it to some of the larger, more inpersonal, language schools I have attended.

Hice una formación de 4 semanas en CLE, necesitaba urgentemente mejorar mi nivel de francés. Recibi una excelente acogida por parte de Isabelle y Hervé los directores , me ayudaron a identificar mis dificultades rápidamente. Los cursos son dinámicos, con temas de actualidad y la mayoria de alumnos son personas con mucho interés por aprender el idioma y eso ayuda enormemente a que las clases sean al 100%, los profesores muy profesionales y además de enseñar el idioma me ayudaron a comprender mejor la cultura francesa. Una escuela con muy buen ambiente, la recomiendo y Tours es precioso para descubrir!!

Ich verbrachte 2 sehr intensive Wochen an der Schule CLE in Tours, einer wunderschönen Stadt an der Loire. Cle empfand ich sehr familiär, da es eine recht kleine Schule ist und man dadurch die meisten Studenten kennt. Was mir sehr gefiel, waren die kleinen Gruppen, in denen man gearbeitet hat. Es wurden offene Diskussionen geführt und kam viel selber zum Französischreden. Ich denke, mein Französisch verbesserte sich sehr und ich kann diese Schule nur jedem weiterempfehlen. Ich möchte mich auch noch bei den tollen Lehrern bedanken, die einem einer der reinsten französischen Dialekte beibringen.

Ich habe die Kurse bei CLE während 15 Wochen besucht, startete als Anfänger und erfreute mich nach Abschluss meines Aufenthaltes eines guten Französisch. Die Schule ist superschön in der Altstadt von Tours gelegen. Es bietet sich bestens an über den Mittag oder nach der Schule mit den andern Studenten in einem der unzähligen Restaurants etwas zu essen oder ein Glässchen zu trinken. Die Schule selbst ist in einem schmucken schön renovierten Altherrenhaus untergebracht. Was meiner Meinung nach aber der wirklich grosse Vorteil gegenüber andern Sprachschulen ist, dass es pro Klasse maximal 7 Studenten hat die von augezeichneten Lehrkräften unterrichtet werden. Vielleicht ist CLE nicht die billigste Schule am Platz, aber unterm Strich zahlt sich das allemal aus. Herzlichen Dank noch eimal an dieser Stelle für die gute und freundschaftliche Zusammenarbeit.

CLE was recommended to me by a friend who had spent 3 months there, she was very right about the school. After 5 weeks of being there I feel that I have progressed. Teachers there not only can teach properly but are also very knowledgable, not only I have improved my french but learned about Europe and the France history in general. Make sure that you take lessons with Herve Aubert !

Au mois de september J'ai suivi un cours de francais à Tours ( CLE ). Une très bonne école ! J'ai appris beaucoup de la langue, la civilisation, l'expression orale etc. Les classes sont petites, l'ambiance est parfait. Les professeurs sont très sympas. C'est une école que je voudrais bien recommander à ceux qui ont l'intention de suivre un cours de francais. Ruth,Pays- Bas

I spent at CLE 2 weeks in September 2010 and greatly enjoyed my stay there for many reasons. The school has a team of competent and friendly teachers and a very welcoming atmosphere. The groups are small, which enables each student to take an active part in classes and receive individual guidance. Even during the short stay of 2 weeks I made a big progress in speaking and understating French, for which I am grateful to the school's competent staff. I can strongly recommend CLE!

I had a wonderful experience at CLE! The school was very flexible, as I had decided to study there last minute. In addition, all the teachers were top-notch and very friendly. Taking into account my learning experiences in and out of class, I believe I learned a whole semester of French in just one week! I plan to study there again next year.

My sixteen-year-old daughter and I spent three weeks at CLE in July 2010. We both want to go back! The classes were all interesting and helpful, and the teachers supported us with skill and grace. CLE truly does have a family atmosphere, and we enjoyed the comraderie among students and teachers. The teachers took note of our interests. We were able to improve our French while enjoying and reflecting on those interests. My daughter loves theatre, and a highlight for her was reading aloud as a class scenes from a Moliere play. I am a pastor, and I was able to work on texts and issues in my field. We enthusiastically recommend CLE!

Ho frequentato un corso intensivo di 1 settimana quest'estate ed ho trovato tutto perfetto. La scuola ha il vantaggio di essere non grandissima, ma molto professionale ed orientata ai bisogni degli studenti. Anche l'alloggio presso le famiglie che la scuola ha prenotato per me e' stato eccellente. Inutile dire che la regione della Loira e' bellissima e ci sono moltissime cose da fare!!! Altamente consigliata insomma!

What a marvellous experience! As a retired school principal and teacher looking to study French in the Loire Valley, CLE met all my needs and expectations. CLE is centrally located in the old quarter of Tours within walking distance to many historical sites, cultural venues, markets, buses and trains. As a cultural and vibrant city, Tours offers students much to see and do in the evenings and weekends. This remarkable school with its experienced and competent staff was most welcoming, accommodating and resourceful. A genuine community spirit was evident. Our small class with students of diverse ages, cultures and backgrounds provided daily opportunities for spirited and entertaining discussions in the French language. Weekly, students were offered a choice of excursions and information about special events, concerts, theatre, restaurants, etc. After 7 weeks at CLE, my limited French language skills and confidence greatly improved and I wish I had extended my stay another few weeks. I would highly recommend CLE to anyone interested in becoming immersed in the French Language and Culture of the Loire Valley. For me, it was a memorable and engaging learning experience. The first time I went to CLE was last year. Initially I went for 2 weeks just for a taster as I had never studied the french language before. I was quite daunted by the prospect of going back to school but the friendliness and professionalism of the staff soon put me at ease. The teachers were extremely helpful and I felt like they could not do enough to help me with my studies. Not being from a highly academic background. I cannot emphasise enough how much confidence CLE has given me towards studying french. The classes are small so you never feel left out and the teachers are always well organised and the lessons are always varied and interesting. Since my initial visit to CLE I have returned for another six weeks earlier this year and I'm planning to return in january 2011.

I have been attending Clé since i was 14 years old. My brother went before me, and my father before him. I have been three times so far and have greatly enjoyed each time. My french improved magnificently after just a few weeks here.

I spent 2 weeks at CLE in June 2010. As a graduate of French some 30 years ago and not having spoken any French for 10 years I wanted a course which would help me rediscover a degree of fluency and also my enjoyment of the language. I enrolled for the standard course of 20 hours of group classes per week plus 3 hours of one to one tuition.The standard of teaching in the group classes was extremely high. Preparation was thorough and content was varied. In addition to general language exercises, poetry, politics and current events also constituted a substantial part of the class content. I had high hopes of the one to one classes and was again very impressed with the detailed preparation and the way the tutor accurately targeted areas which needed attention. In fact these classes were amazingly good. Coffee times were filled with conversations with other students about how pleased they were with their classes too! My hostess was charming and I received a warm welcome. The food was excellent and her cheerful company made my stay complete. There is a lovely atmosphere at CLE which is easy to recognise but very hard to define. It is an efficient, highly professional language school which still manages to be warmly welcoming and supportive.

My husband and I spent 2 wonderful weeks at CLE, Tours. The school directors spent considerable time on the first day ensuring that we were placed in the most appropriate class for our level. Our teachers were adept at structuring the language for our level of competence (without the use of any English) whilst appropriately challenging us to reach the next level. We stayed with a fantastic host family arranged for us by the school, and immersed ourselves in French life. We were really made to feel welcome and part of the family. Tours is a fantastic place to base yourself and the school provided ample social, historical and cultural activities for us to take part in. We plan to return next time for a longer period!
