About Center for Italian Studies Babilonia
The Centre for Italian Studies Babilonia offers courses in art, history, literature, cinema, geology, archaeology, politics and humanities for U.S.University students who want to study in Italy, and particularly in Sicily and attend courses granted with academic credits. The Study Abroad in Italy Centre of Babilonia, located in Taormina, Sicily, is a hosting institution for several Italian Departments and Study Abroad Programs, for whom the school’s staff has developed programs for independent students or faculty led customized programs.
It offers short-term programs (winter and summer programs) and long-term programs (semester programs).
WHO ARE OUR STUDENTS?
The Center for Italian Studies, located in Taormina, Sicily, hosts several U.S. Universities programs for both Graduate & Undergraduate students. Students can directly transfer academic credits or earn undergraduate or graduate credits through Auburn University for all our courses.
Babilonia is not just a language school but is a cultural center that organizes book presentations with writers, painting and photo exhibitions, social meetings and concerts in its beautiful garden 200 meters away from the Greek Theatre. Babilonia also host a cafeteria and a ristrot (a budget restaurant). You will be able to enjoy your meals and your drinks in the beautiful WI-FIed botanical garden of the Center for Italian Studies.
LEISURE
During your full immersion Italian language courses, we will also offer you a scheduled program of free social and cultural extra-curricular activities. These activities may include, but are not limited to lectures, walks, films, games, seminars. Our weekly seminars cover a variety of subjects from Italian literature and poetry to Sicilian-specific subjects including history, politics, cuisine, etc.
How to get there
The nearest airport is Catania Fontanarossa (about 45 kilometres away from Taormina). There are weekly scheduled flights from many European cities and several daily flight connections from Rome, Milan, Napes Bologna, etc. In addition, there are also several charter flights.
