Where is Miami?
Miami is situated in Southern Florida on the east coast and the Atlantic Ocean. It was settled in 1825 and has been growing ever since. In the period 1896 to 2006 the population grew from just over one thousand, to nearly 5.5 million. This is where the city’s nickname, The Magic City, comes from because residents couldn’t believe how much the city grew from year to year!

Miami is definitely best known for its great beaches. When you come to your foreign language school in Miami you’ll be hard-pushed deciding which beach to visit. Beach parks such as Lummus or Haulover Beach Park are very popular as you can enjoy many other activities other than just the beaches here, but South Beach is the most famous. In this part of Miami you’ll also find the popular Art Deco District of Miami where there’s the world’s largest collection of Art Deco buildings that were constructed in the early 1900’s.
