Zurich may not be the capital of Switzerland but it’s the largest city in the country. Frequently it gets voted as one of the best cities in the world to live, so surely it must also be one of the best cities in the world to attend a foreign language school?!
Where is Zurich?
Zurich is situated in the north of Switzerland and is about 30 kilometres (18 miles) north of the Alps. It’s on the Limmat River at the north western end of the famous Lake Zurich, so language travel students can enjoy the fabulous scenery that surrounds Zurich. The city is the largest in Switzerland with a population of around 361,000 in the city itself, but 1.68 million in the metro area.

The Old Town is really scenic too with its beautiful old buildings, and there are museums where you can find out more about the history of Zurich. Make sure you climb the tower in Grossmunster Church as you’ll get great views over the city from here – maybe you will see your foreign language school!
