About Mackdonald Language Academy
We are an ACELS/QQI and MEI accredited and independent English language school. We are specialised in offering 'all inclusive' holiday courses for kids and teenagers.
With us, students do not only improve their English, they also get a very good impression of the cultural and natural beauty of Ireland.
Our Junior camps in Kilkenny are 'all inclusive':
English lessons in small classes (15 hours/week; max. 15 students/class; all levels)

We have a strict 'English ONLY' policy in school and on all activities. English is the the only spoken language inside and outside the classroom.
All our host families are carefully selected and continuously checked - we know that a successful summer camp experience is only worthwhile with excellent host families. This is why, we put utmost emphasis on the selection of our host families.
Many host families live within walking distance to our summer centre. If required, our host families provide transfers to/from the school/activities free of charge each day. Use of public transport is not necessary.
WHO ARE OUR STUDENTS?
Throughout the whole summer, there will be many international students (12-18 years) in Kilkenny. We generally tend to have a good mix of students from all parts of the world but mainly continental Europe.
The emphasis is on small class sizes thereby offering a high quality learning environment. The average number of students per class is 8. There will not be more than 15 students in each class and classroom.
Lessons take place in modern classrooms in a personal and relaxed atmosphere. All teaching material is up-to-date and free of charge. All our classrooms are equipped with fast Internet computers, interactive whiteboards and a small students´ library with a variety of books and Audio CDs.
Our school building is located approx. 10 minutes walking from the city centre, in a well-kept suburb of Kilkenny. There are numerous shopping and entertainment facilities on site.
LEISURE
The city and the county of Kilkenny are located in the sunny Southeast, in the heart of Ireland. It is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities in Ireland and a much visited tourist attraction of the 'Emerald Isle'.
Anyone who wants to get to know Ireland at its best, you have found the right place! Even though Kilkenny is only 60 minutes from Dublin, you can experience all that Ireland has to offer.
Every week, the school offers various educational, cultural & social activities. All excursions and activities are organized and accompanied by a member of staff.
Participating in the school´s excursions and trips will enhance your knowledge about Kilkenny, Dublin and Ireland as a whole. There are a wide variety of activities on offer including Irish dancing classes, city tours, cooking classes, and cultural and social outings. The school also organizes interesting excursions around Ireland, for example to the Irish coast in Waterford and Tramore, Dublin, Glendalough, and Cork, just to name a few.
Visa Information
After receipt of your registration, we shall send you a written confirmation and a letter of invitation for the course with us. Please note that the course price ought to be paid in full before we can issue this letter of invitation.
Once you have all required documents, you will have to file an application for a visa at the Irish Embassy or Consulate in your country.
How to get there
One aspect of our comprehensive services are the transfers at arrival/departure. Arrival/departure from Dublin International Airport (DUB) to all our courses locations is on the Sunday before/after the course. Upon your registration, you can let us know your flight details and we will then arrange your transfer. A member of staff will wait for you in the arrival´s hall of Dublin airport and pick you up. At departure, we will accompany you to check in and say 'Good Bye' to you at the security check.
Airport transfers on a Sunday between 10 a.m. and 17 p.m. are included in the course price for all Juniors camps. Outside those hours we charge an additional cost. Airport transfers for our courses for adults are always charged separately.
We cooperate with all airlines offering the 'Unaccompanied Minors - Service'.
