    Where is Moscow?



    Moscow is the capital and largest city of Russia and is situated in the west of the country. Moscow is in fact the largest city in Europe by metropolitan area and has a population of around 13 million people. Moscow has an excellent public transport system, making it easy for language travel students to get around the city. There’s a large metro system as well as passenger trains and three international airports here!

Moscow is best known for the huge Red Square which includes the Lenin Mausoleum and the State History Museum. Also here is the stunning architecture of St Basil’s Cathedral which has a museum inside and was built in the 1500’s.


    The Kremlin is another huge building worth visiting and there are many other museums too including the Pushkin museum and the Tretyakov Gallery. How about visiting Moscow’s most famous park, Gorky Park?!

    Moscow’s humid continental climate means you’ll enjoy mild weather during the summer, June to August, when the average high temperatures range from 22C to 24C (72 – 75F). December to February are the coldest months when the average high is around -4 or -5C (23 – 25F), so winters are a little on the chilly side!
